Really don't feel like a JW anymore
by snare&racket init has been a good 8 years away from my area, a good 10 years + since i was regularly at meetings.
a good 12 years since i was hesitantly active.. it is a slow process but it does happen.
i now feel no connection to the belief system beyond memories.

Well said, it helps a lot of us to read the similar relief experienced getting out of the mentally destructive group. When my wife tells me "what other loving peaceful religions..." I have to bite my tongue. Because you don't know that it is none of those things until your mind is freed from its control. Then your realize it has a very very destructive side. -

The Bible's huge implicit contradiction on the subject of love for God vs love for your fellow man.
by Island Man in"if anyone makes the statement: i love god, and yet is hating his brother, he is a liar.
for he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot be loving god, whom he has not seen" - 1 john 4:20. here the bible implies that it is far easier to love a visible person than an invisible one.
therefore if one lacks love for a visible person, how much more so he must lack love for the invisible god.

good logic Island man I will have to remember this one.
I like finding versus in the OT then thinking if any could imagine jesus saying them.
Compare 2 Kings 1:9-10 vs Luke 9:54-55
9 The king then sent to him a chief of 50 with his 50 men. When he went up to him, he was sitting on the top of the mountain. He said to him: “Man of the true God,+ the king says, ‘Come down.’”10 But E·li′jah answered the chief of the 50: “Well, if I am a man of God, let fire come down from the heavens+ and consume you and your 50 men.” And fire came down from the heavens and consumed him and his 50 men.
54 When the disciples James and John+ saw this, they said: “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven and annihilate them?”+ 55 But he turned and rebuked them. - Luke 9:54 Some manuscripts them, just as Elijah did

Survey: How Many Here Have Gotten Into Trouble With The Elders
by minimus inhow many were brought in the infamous back room?

I've only been there for supposed badness that happened often not even with me, or somehow involved me. Never been reproved or DF'd no judicial committees, seen the back room plenty. My favorite was a struggle going on between elders and MS's who didn't like each other and it overflowed onto a bunch of young guys we all had bands we were in, and i would consider myself older (late 20's). Our band was pretty chill alternative and our fiends had a incredibly heavy metal band, some of them were MS's. Anyway we got dragged in all of us at once, why? We had myspace counts (yes this was back about 7-10 years ago). Anyway I got pissed, I had the bible the reasoning book all kinds of stuff and I was the only one (even though I didn't have the crazy metal band) who stood up and called the elders out. I was furious I was sure I was gonna get in trouble because I am so calm and quiet and I went off. Throwing out scriptures I accused one of the accusing elders who wasn't even there or in that hall anymore of being an apostate. I want HAM. These poor bros saw things my way, I was shocked. I was like I don't even know what I am doing here??? lol.
These situation I have only experienced as not some actual wrongdoing but people who wanted to use the big bad elders as their tool to punish someone they didn't like. Total jw cowards. And elders having no clue about the real world and that these people were playing them out like fools but they had to do their due diligence. Never again. Someones wants to talk to me in the back room they can piss off.

Did You Know Any Bad JWs?

I think JW's are just human like the rest of us, the world is full of people who choose between good and "evil" everyday. What bothers me is that I think the JW's are pent up springs from trying to please everyone and not be their true self that, makes them seem so much more hypocritical. Its the all or nothing mentality. Where as outside you have people that pick and choose moral laws or supposed moral laws to ignore or break and don't need to pretend they aren't.
This is the best example if can come up with
If you are a guy "in the world" and you just want to be a man whore, go out and man whore it up, you may piss some girls off but most likely you won't get involved in the kinds of things a married JW who is a man whore at heart might get involved in. Sleeping with another dub, probably also married, wrecking families, ruining friendships, wrecking the community of the congregation. Where as the man whore in the world isn't married, he can go sleep with someone outside his circle and not threaten friendship family etc. But dub for some reason shit where they eat when they decide to be themselves and it has a disastrous effect.
No one is perfect, but the dubs constant expectation of it makes their bad acts always seem much worse, more backhanded, more sick.

He hates his work because of toxic worldly people, especially gays
I sure I am not alone in this, but I have never understood the witnesses disdain and homophobia. I mean I understand why from there explanation but not really why any person can act so hateful towards another. I have worked with many gay people over the years and the majority were more christlike than most dubs. Kind, loving, generous. They have great senses of humor and are generally just fun and cool. When I was young like 20 years ol my boss was as gay as the day is long, but what a sweetheart, he helped me with being able to buy my first house, he had me and wife over to his house and he and his partner showed us an incredible hospitable fun evening. When i leave and they close their doors that is there business not mine. This is another example of how witnesses have no express written concept of hate, but it exists in the environment of witnesses. Such a waste of energy hating decent innocent people who are clearly enjoying the life they have.
Elder school is just a FOG factory to churn out more Fear Obligation and Guilt to be unleashed on the congregation so everyone else will learn to hate their jobs, and life in this system and work harder for the wizards of Org.

Perhaps they had multiple congregations agree to release certain amounts of funds to a false society approved project. And its not about members but came from funds -

The canned answer is always God allows these things to play out (no matter how long, how horrendous, etc). Its always somehow not Gods mistake in appointing them. I know! it was a test! yea thats it. lol

JW TV is the reason for the hysteria in the KH
by campaign of hate inif you, like me, have noticed the sudden increase in hysteria in the khs right now, i put it down to that jw tv site.
its's far more extensive than i thought it was, i thought it was just 1, 1 hour program a month.
there's a s*** load of videos on that site.. and the real problem, from just watching a clip from each video, is that these guys are clearly "mentally unstable".

No jonestown unless it ever imploded first, was reduced to a very small band of nut jobs, then perhaps. You'd need something to happen to make the majority of people capable of even some reasonable thought walk away first. -

Belief is emotional not factual...
You are simply interested in facts, not emotions
Or, that doctrine that the ORG has changed its mind on would have been considered by them before that to be the "A" word. So was does it really mean?
