Ony J.W.'s could do this and not question what is going on
by Sour Grapes inat the meeting today several elders commented about the wonderful program that they attended yesterday on the new kingdom hall designs.
they said that the new halls are going to be so beautiful with lots of windows and glass panels and that the lights will be kept on in the lobby 24/7 so that you can see into the hall at night and that thousands of these halls must be built.
then five minutes later they are talking about how close the end is and that we will be meeting in basements in the near future.

21 Years as an Elder, 5 as an MS, I will never be that guy again.
by James Jack ini was deleted as the cobe after i let my adult child move back home and he admitted that he fornicated under my roof while my wife and i where away on a rbc project.
of course the elder mode in me kicked him out of the house.. the elders moved quickly to remove me because i was too involved in "theocractic activities", i had neglected my adult son.. i accepted this primarily because i didn't want to serve with a boe that did not want me.
i was devastated however because it was the only life i knew.

I wish I could read this, but I do love Montreal what a beautiful city, amazing food, and I have done more than a few non-witess things there

received revealing "witness" in parking lot
by Magnum ina few weeks ago i was working out of my home state and was in a grocery store parking lot when i received my first jw witness since leaving jwdom.
a youngish-looking lady was sitting in an suv parked next to my car and i was about to get in my car to leave.
she opened the door and asked whether she could give me something to read (had a tract in her hand)..

Its not the same religion. The old timers weren't just brainwashed, they had things to believe in and knew how to stand up for it. Now all that is left is brainwashed part, Its a shell of what it used to be. If people delve into doctrine, science, rationality now in this day and age its a shortcut to enlightenment. They don't want that, they want people who need a fantasy to live for and shinny blue logo to follow. -

"Why are we supposed to be happy when people are killed?" From a 10 year old
by stuckinarut2 ini was really overjoyed to hear a 10 year old in the hall say this the other day.
she was sitting behind us and whispered to her mum during the meeting:.
"so mummy, why are we supposed to be happy when jehovah kills people, including my friends at school?

I hope one day to stop attending and i believe that day will come. in the meantime I feel like my life during those times is wasting away. Not sure how much longer I can do this favor for my wife. To me now the meetings do more to push me away from "THE TRUTH" than apostate site like this one. The cult tactics, the persecution complex, the unscientific based belief in fairy tails, the unqualified instructors its so bad. -

Woke up this morning to the realization that the future is now
by campaign of hate inas the title of the thread says, i woke up this morning realizing more than ever that we should, each and every one of us, live for today and what we can accomplish today, rather than constantly looking toward the future.. i'm not implying we shouldn't make plans, plans are healthy and advisable, especially if you have healthy commitments.. but i realized the reason why nothing in my life ever seems to get done, is because i put things off, and look ahead 10 years down the line, then a few days later realize how much work needs to be put into that said task, then i don't do anything.
and so the cycle seems to repeat itself.. what i think i'm trying to say is that worthwhile endeavors that have a reward at the end, but take many years to get there, need to be challenged one day at a time.
i now understand that to get to where we want to be 10 years down the line, we need to focus on today and the hard work that needs to be out into a task one day at a time.

when i was 19 i worked with a PA who was on the faculty at Stanford, she thought I was so bright and wasting my time, she offered to write me letters of rec and help me get into Stanford, I smugly said laughed and turned it down, no thanks, those things aren't important to me. FML. 6 years later I went to college. But they screwed me out of that opportunity. Well i screwed myself by believing I guess -

They wore out the word "soon" i think no one can stomach it anymore, or take it literal. Crying wolf for too long
