Long Story of my Life/Experience
by GrownMidget inalso, my wife has come to her limits of understanding me about the witnesses related grief i have been having.
she has told me many times to stop reading the ex-witness sites because i get depressed and become angry, which sadly is true.
it's not very productive to be sad throughout the entire day and then shout at your wife for the reason she has no first hand experience about, therefore how could she possibly know and help?

Welcome. You have taken your next step towards reading these things without anger and sadness. When you find support and friends here and when you are allowed to freely express yourself it's takes time but you will be less sad and angry. It's something you need to go through to have peace. -

JWs have more good points than bad
by lsw1961 in1) many who were on the destructive path have been transformed by their teachings (this includes me who was once vicious, and presumptuous and atheistic).
2) equal monthly pay to all members of the bethel community regardless of whether they are bc members or sweepers.
this is something that still remains as an unattainable dream for the world.

I'll just pick one of these for now.
#4 their fight for freedom of expression which I also used to boast about is completely nullified by their not practicing it. Shunning and censorship of critics makes them blatant hypocrisy in this regard. Their proud arrogant fight for freedom of religion is denied their own members.

Tight pants, colored socks, blue shirts, beards, wire -rimmed glasses...
by Muddy Waters intight pants, colored socks, blue shirts, beards, wire -rimmed glasses... .
does anybody remember any thing else that was once or still is proscribed against faithful j-dubs?
when brothers in our kh started wearing different colored shirts rather than white, it caused a great stir and ruckus.

It depends on the hall. And the assholes running it.
In the 90's I got crap for wearing a purple "zoot suit". Was really maroon.
More recently a year or two ago I got mocked for wearing lapel pin/flower. Now everyone and their brother is wearing one.
Having a shaved head, I had one good friends elder father tell me, you wouldn't get used in our hall no way no how like that, and I also took crap for it in my own hall.
had some bro's that liked to grow their sideburns as long as they could, not sure why, but they would constantly get harassed.

Brooklyn Bethel Tours Through The Roof
by freemindfade inwas speaking with someone last night who just recently toured the us bethel's.
the brooklyn tour i heard was awful, very limited and disappointing and conducted by a local pioneer and not even a bethelite.
well from what they are telling the folks on the tour since the tm3 bit encouraging (guilting) people about going to disneyland on vacation when you haven't visited bethel, monthly tours went from 6000 to 16000!

One of the big draws was always getting to have lunch (despite the food being not so great, and JW's always come back raving about how great it was, never understood that). Even these recent visitors were impressed by the order and control during lunch. Well one of the big deals is going away with the downsize. One more significant thing that will be lacking from tours. So why guilt and drive a bunch of witness to come to bethel to read a placard and maybe see some people in cubicles, whats the point AM3?? -

One Year Later - A Thank You to Tony Morris.

i wanted to send you a note of "thanks" on this special day.. why is this day special, you may ask?
one year ago today, you, tony, woke me up to the fact that the governing body could not have jehovah's blessing or direction.. last year, on november 8th & 9th, 2014, the united states branch visit was broadcast to over 1,000,000 jehovah's witnesses across the country.. as i sat at the kingdom hall listening to the "historic occasion," i was ignoring certain doubts that had surfaced in the few months prior.

Cofty, there is a lot of good things in the proverbs, probably the only part of the bible of any value since the principles there were lifted from the Egyptian proverbs lol. But alas, they only care about the scriptures about the tight pant wearing sodomites who god smote with fire and brimstone. -

Shortly after (later that month) I was around the generation older than me in the family, they were having one of their round table prediction, read between the line sessions like they have had for years. I was listening from the other room, and these uber dubs actually brought up the TM3 part and how strange it was then *activate cult minds* they jokingly and laughing compared it to Jesus saying to drink his blood..yadda yadda yadda and how people left, and this was like that, it was going to run off the weak ones. I sh!t you not.
What a shame and what a crap comparison. But it showed they were disturbed by it enough to have to come up with that nonsense to strengthen their zeal, and/or they had heard others talk about how ludicrous it was.

This man, supposedly one of a select few chosen by Jesus Christ, chose on a historic occasion to talk all about the many spiritual dangers of tight pants. To guilt sisters who wear exercise pants — while jogging. To guilt trip brothers who wear close fitting suit pants. To call into question the reasonableness of fancy socks. To denigrate brothers over 23 years of age who are not in an appointed position. To assert that “tight pants” are an elaborate conspiracy by “homosexual fashion designers” because they want to see young JW men in them. It was embarrassing to listen to.
The way the the talk was delivered was embarrassing, too. It sounded as if he wasn’t even prepared. It sounded like he just rolled out of bed, got in front of the camera, and just started spouting off on his pet peeves. I left that meeting feeling very small. The religion I was in was not expansive, not life-affirming. It was small. It was petty. And it was utterly controlling.- Daniel Genser -

Happy AM3 day!
Yes, you shook the faithful, they didn’t wake, but you planted a seed of stupidity for sure that they may be able to think back on in the future when they wake up. And those beginning to doubt your religion had their journey accelerated by your words.
Since this day a year ago, most exjw’s stories will contain a reference to your callous talk and the role it played in their waking up. You gave the jw world a glimpse of the power they are not allowed to criticize, and this was very painful because your talk solicited so much criticism for your small closed-minded religion. Because of this immortal speech now on record via the internet, more will continue to wake from it.
I speak for probably almost all of us exjw’s that we hope everyday another one of your diatribes is imminent so we can welcome more and more free minds waking up from their cult coma. So please, keep telling us what you think! -FMF
