Your Story was very touching, i am sorry you suffered but i am happy you have made it a positive experience and gained control of everything at a time in your life when many are desperate to find a solution. (mid-life ish'). This isn't a debate about God existing or not and i don't want it to become that, i believe in God and i am glad to see that you haven't been completely robbed of your faith!

How easy would it be for us all to remain angry all our lives?
The us that could of been was destroyed before it had a chance to grow, mature and instead was destroyed by the Watchtower Society. Instead of having a whole life to look back on, many years have been tainted and the so called knowledge we were proud to be the owners of does nothing to help us in the real world. We laughed at people, when all the time they were laughing at us.
Some of us find ourselves feeling like outsiders in everyday situations and on special occasions. Birthdays, Christmas, Easter and all other special occasions serve as painful reminders for either what we missed out on ourselves or what we let our own family miss out on. It might be hard to cope with everyday life, nothing comes easily and second nature just doesn't exist.
While the Watchtower did make us victims, it also made its own worse enemy. Daily new people discover sites such as this one and new sites like it appear and the so called apostates, regular people are all stronger than the Organization that tried to destroy them. The cult we were all in (and i do not use the word cult lightly) was like an abusive partner, if you dared step out of line there were consequences and some people have even suffered unnecessarily.
In my opinion what is worse than the suffering is the guilt. We feel guilty for leaving and it seems like it will never go away, we want to try and do the right thing but the Watchtower Society will not listen and at the moment what we need more is someone to listen. Someone that knows what we went through.
This pain can seem to have no end or limit, but it does.
What is the first step toward healing? Personally i think we should look for what we have learned and then apply our new knowledge in our life. Live differently to how we did before and if not, live better.
I have learned that there is no us and them, that nothing is black and white and that we all live in the grey area. That sometimes appearing to have knowledge does not mean something is right.

If they change that dogma, I plan on raising all sorts of hell with my family that won't talk to me. Letters and the like... those that do talk, they are going to tell how dissappointed theya re to their famlies

If I dared to opine about the validity of Watchtower teachings to my JW family, they'd know I was taking the piss, or was up to something. They've got a really good force field protecting their spiritual paradise.

My mother has been talking about this already - "we must be so near the end now" was her conclusion.
Rank and file will embrace the change with open arms and will love it. They will view it as the latest revelation.
Only the odd one or two "thinking" people will stop to consider what it really means.
This change is huge and could be the groundwork for big change coming - 144000 becomes a symbolic number perhaps.
I just wish more would stop to reason on it - basically what JWs preached / believed for over 70 years was wrong.
i think that some JW's are afraid to admit to the outside world what they know on the inside, possibly even afraid to admit the truth to themselves about what they are involved with, because that means having to pick up where you left off when you became a witness, except a lot has changed and your whole world only makes sense when you depend on this organization, it means letting go of so called knowledge and answers and embracing the idea that sometimes its nice to not know everything and its nice to come to your own conclusion. my mum and i discussed 1935, because i made the mistake of mentioning this new article before January, it was part good and part bad because she was approached this date with the view that it was accurate 'at the time' and wasn't an inspired teaching but just an 'understanding' whereas i think if i'd of just asked about 1935 and waited, we'd of had a much better discussion this January coming. Although i had a few moments where she squirmed a bit when i quoted the Watchtower Society's view on the date (prior to Jan Watchtower).

I agree with this being one of the best scriptures, my mum didnt like it one bit and tried to worm her way out of it until it just got stupid and i laughed, she went childish and said 'well if you think they are false prophets there is nothing left to discuss is there and by the way i find it really offensive'. - oompa lol, i know i know...

That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him. ----------- Surely then the Watchtower Bible Tract Society are a false Prophet by the Bible's Standards? For example inside the Proclaimers book they mention the return of the Prophets (Abraham, Issac and Jacob) in 1925. Did this happen? No. Originally the Watchtower Society claimed Jesus was ruling in Heaven invisibly in the late 1800's, this is in their own literature...was this correct? NO!
