the society teaches that if unexplainable things are happening in your home, then shouting out the name jehovah will cause them to stop.
as you probably know, this is meant to be because these strange things are caused by demons, which may have posessed an object from your home, which was previously used in demonic activity.
but, supposedly, since they fear jehovah, shouting out this name can cause these things to stop, even if only temporarily.
Calling on the name of any entity/diety that you attribute power to, will help. Calling on the name of "Jehovah" or saying Yahweh or yudhehvavheh could be successful because of the power you attribute to this diety (and the fact that others attribute power to him also makes him more potent).
It's really your belief system....because ultimately, everything is belief or perception.

one of my secrets is that when i was 14 years old (and before becoming a jw) i had sex with a girl my age and also her sister who was one year older than me.
fortunately their mother didn't find out though i think she was suspecting that something fishy was going on.
even at the grocery store. She would by stuff like certian expensive spices and tooth whitener and then take them back for the $$$$$. She also used to skim on tips - say oh I left 20% tip and then only leave 10%. It took her a while but she needed to be safe - her husband was very abusive. She opeaned a safe deposit box to keep the cash - much harder for him to come accross then a bank account.
Brilliant, niken8er! Safe deposit box would make it impossible to trace if I used my business address(?) I would like to clarify that my physical safety is never in danger. It is just his nature. He is mirroring learned behavior. His father did this with his mother. It is a method of control. When his mom died in November, the children opened her safe deposit box and found thousands dollars stashed away. That, among other things was a huge wakeup call for me--I told myself then and there, I would not wind up like her.

When I realized I couldn't be married to my ex anymore, I opened a "secret" bank account and deposited money into it for a little over a year to help with my new life. I knew he was going to take everything away from me, so I planned my escape very carefully, even rented an apartment in a different town 2 months before I left. Glad I did that though, cause true to his threats, he took all the money (he thought) so I wouldn't make it on my own. But, by the time I moved out, I had saved over 6 thousand dollars!!! I made it and am doing great. I highly recommend it to anyone trying to escape a bad marriage.
*Brigid files in "infor for emergencies"* Actually, I've just started doing something like this. I would be in SUCH trouble if he knew--and he knows everything, it seems. But my ever-growing skills could help me embezzle a small fortune from a large corporation I have no unauthorized access to credit cards, checkbook or my own earnings (odd because I generally earn more than he does). I have learned how to launder money lately like no one's business. LOL!! I know all the places where I can write the check for "over" and how much. Dissolve #'s on receipts (all receipts have to be saved for possible review) Can I pm you for suggestions because I am terrified about taking my cash stash and opening an account. So afraid he'll find out. that would be very bad.

How am I not confronting "reality" (a whole 'nuther subject for me) head on? By loving mySelf and not letting my self-image to be colored by what others say or do not say about me? btw, I have a fairly extended network of pm buddies---not because I sat around and waited like a flower to be picked, but because I reached out: "Hey, you seem nice, want to talk, share ideas", etc.?
I just do not like victim mentality. If you want something whether it be friendship, kudos, love, more money, more excitement, or anything--simply asking for it gets you further than just waiting around for it.
I do know where you're coming from, believe me I do. I realize that there are a lot of people who by their nature are feeling left out, and I approach this subject from my personal point of departure, everyone has their own.

I drive a Passat with a ski rack on top (I never go skiing!!! lol!!). Love it/hate it. The VWs just aren't what they used to be. It's in the shop now every other month practically. Shopping for a new vehicle. I won't buy another VW, but I do love the way they look. I can't afford (yet) what I really want, my other half says no to the hybrids (consumer reports did not give them a good fiscal write up). Don't know what to buy.
My mechanic loves me and my Passat, though.

They know in their hearts that this is discouraging to the "least" of the common denominators.
I know where you're coming from, proplog, but I disagree. I, myself, never come up on the "most popular" threads (btw, I was always the girl who played alone w/her imaginary friends on the playground and NEVER got picked for sports--people would fight over who would have to take me lol!!!). It does not affect my life one wit. I am quite in love with mySelf and that is all that matters (and I still have my imaginary friends--they love me!! no matter what!!)
i came to think of the fact that i've always been afraight to fail and this made living freely very difficult.
since i stopped going to meetings and especially since i admitted to myself that i'm no longer a 'true believer' i feel i can make mistakes and learn from them.
i feel more 'alive' because of that.
This isn't mine but it's good food for thought:
