Atheism: Is it the created and controlled opposition to Jehovah's Witness?
by Rig Boy ini will lead the reader to first observe a model of the hegelian dialectic which is a key psychological entrapment of the powers that be.
the dialectic takes this trilateral 'managed conflict' process one step further.
then the process starts all over again: thesis vs. antithesis results in synthesis.

Thinking of leaving? Do you have a good Reputation?
by M*A*S*H ini've had an idea, a cruel and malicious idea.
want to hear it?
well, what i'm hoping is we can find someone who's thinking of leaving the jw's, has a relatively good standing in the congo and is a good actor.

Nice!! I am planning a tattoo here pretty soon as well.. One over my heart with a lightening bolt that says, "Caution, Caution Caution, to prevent electric shock, do not remove over. No user serviceable parts inside, refer servicing to qualified service personell." (it's from a magnetic fields song.) ALso considering one on my but cheek that says, "One way traffic do not enter...Exit only"

The Watchtower Study: The one way to make your views publicly known
by sir82 inas most of us here are aware, the watchtower "study" weekly meeting is no "study" at all.
paragraphs are read, pre-arranged questions are asked, and the "correct" answer is a slight re-wording of the sentences in the paragraph.. however, sometimes (many times?
depending on the congregation), members could use the study as a way to publicly air their opinions on a variety of topics, without fear of interruption (so long as the answer was couched in enough "theocratese").

I always hated that. I usually go out of my way to make that person feel better, unless their snobby. I also wink at dissfellowshipped people.. probably going to get me into trouble.

You wash your face and hands, brush your teeth and chew gum before meetings and before coming home so that no one knows that you smoked today.
You suck on your papercut.
You suprise your wife by waking her with oral sex.

If...
by Narkissos ini was thinking of an approximate reversal of force's thread (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/14/105552/1.ashx):.
if something happened which proved beyond any doubt that god (or gods) cannot exist, silencing forever all claims for realistic belief in an objective divinity, shattering even the uncertainty of agnosticism, would you start being interested in theology?.
i don't mean to discuss the probability of the assumption: it is very unlikely.

God can't exist because of the babel fish remember?
God says, I refuse to prove i exist because proof denies faith and without faith i am nothing.
Man says, But what about the babel fish, i mean thats pretty much a dead giveaway isn't it?
God says, Oh yea. And dissapears into a puff of logic.
Then man proves black is white and gets killed in the next zebra crossing.

Pre Armageddon Preparation.
by Clam inare there jws who prepare for the tribulations they assume are around the corner?
when i visted the us once in 1999 i met a few guys who were expecting a global meltdown due to the millenium bug.. as a consequence they had generators, guns, ammo, tins of food, bottled water, fuel, all kinds of stuff to help them through a civil disorder situation.
does anyone know or remember any jws who have prepared like this?
-

I have met one Jw who prepared like that. No guns or ammo, but food water tents etc.. He was pretty secretive about his stash.. Didn't want to appear to lack faith.

Taboos
by slugga ini don't want to start a thread judging people here i'm more interested in your experiences and beliefs without people starting to fight.
do you still hold certain org views, are certain things taboo to you even though you may be out and have been out for years?
think they will handle it the same way all of us are handling it.

I have always been a science fiction fan, with that came an interest in vampires, witches and other forms of entertainment. I never really had a little voice inside my head that told me such things were wrong. Though i can't abide gore in a movie i won't not go see something because it might be a little gory.. (gangs of new york was great) Though i'm still in i have always watched whatever i wanted. I still think overall i have a "moral" system. I wouldn't have a secret affair. (swing maybe but with the wifes approval and participation (like that would happen)). I lie quite a bit but its always because i think i am avoiding confrontation. I still won't steal, murder, etc... Well maybe not murder, unless it was really necc and i knew i could get away with it.
Maybe though all of that is veneer. Maybe its because i know i can't get away with it that i don't do it. When i have gone to trade shows in vegas i have gambled and gone to strip clubs.. (no tingles yet) But maybe it's because i had no fear of repercussion.

Is it always ethical to try to help someone get out?
by wanderlustguy inis it ever better or ethical to let someone go on believing in the truth even though it is a lie?

I think it depends on their beliefs and yours. I believe all god's are false so if religion helps them to be a better person, a better family then who cares what they believe? If they want to believe in something irrational like 607 then why strain it? If lack of a blood transfusion doesn't kill them then a falling rock might. (hell the blood transfusion still might kill them) At least they can die happy with their world view. It seems callous and i am sorry for that but everyone dies. Whenever i think about death i think of the irish lads in 1916 who marched into battle with barely seeds in their pockets so that when they died and were buried family could find the graves. They knew they were going to die. They knew it was hopeless, but the believed in what they were doing. And they knew they were going to die someday. Again i'm sorry if it sounds callous.
