holy crap! get out of my head!
that's exactly how i felt - i was just sitting here laughing at absolutely nothing and i wondered what you were laughing at!

it is a shame that people are here portraying themselves as jehovah's witness as having some knowlege or going to meetings.
what exists here is a complete lack of faith in anything.
and a great amount of stupidity.
i don't know about you all, but i feel oh so special being part of a free thinking, intelligent, skeptical and inquisitive, responsible and open-minded faithless group as the lot of you. so much more refreshing than say, a "non-profit" organization that has coined a new meaning for Truth™.
there's something about mind-control and brainwashing that just doesn't seem right, you know?
(sarcasm fully implied).

i stumbled across this site last august and created an account but a series of events led me to run away (i can post the story if you like) and i have been moving around a bit until i finally got settled some.
along the way due to my mother's sheltering i had some bad experience because i didn't know as much about the real world as i should have.
i ingested as i have before a psychoactive one night and a surge of memories came rushing back to me of my childhood and a massive handfull of them were tied to the time i was made to endure going to the kingdom hall and socializing with many members outside of.
welcome Jolinar, to the wonderful world of free minds (and herbs sans guilt - isn't that right Mike?)
re: "does anyone find it hard to talk with their mom if they are a JW and you are a former?"
ooh ooh, me (raising hand à la Horshack).
she gets so upset with my "innocent" questions, and yet she cannot refute them.
stick around. as most others have mentioned during this thread, there are great people and great stories. it certainly has helped a novice ex-jw like moi.

even though i am myself deaf, i can speak english pretty well and i also do america sign language.
what about you?
HOLY!!! kero-kero, i'm in love...
i wish i were more of a linguist. i am simply facinated by languages and their origin.
i speak english and french (and 2 difference versions of pig latin in each), spanish and used to speak greek - now i mostly only understand it.
does it count that i can say "hi, how are you?" in 11 languages?"

so i've basically apostasized to a wit-friend who thinks i'm spiritually lost (i've been deliberately fading for nearly a year).
she has invited me to share with her my questions and doubts (i didn't confirm that my questions had already been answered or that all my doubts have been dispelled) in attempt to provide me with evidence.
the only one i have shared thus far is about 607bce.
PERRRRRFECT!
thanks for the link.

see, i can't do something so "blatant" as the UN document.
she thinks what i am suffering from is "spiritual neglect" - o woe is me...
so i want to play on that and offer her something like
"see 607BCE? no evidence. see 587BCE, overwhelming evidence...".

The only one i have shared thus far is about 607BCE. So she has asked me to provide her with secular evidence that would support the error of this date.
It appears that a friend of mine has whisked my CoC book from my home and i was going to extrapolate the quotes and publications from there.
If any of you have it handy, can you let me know which books R. Franz used?
I've perused the beliefs and doctrine threads, but it was getting a lil' tedious.
thanks muchly,
Cal.
well for starters i do have a prescription for cannabis (insomnia / depression).... why would i want to take pharmacuticals for insomnia/depression?
i mean, what if i get prescribed/addicted to a pill, that one day i might not be able to afford?
(if you/i grow cannabis it's more/less free)... now the moral issue... who is more likely to beat the shit out of their kids?
"Hippie flip"... is that a canadian-term? do they not use that world-wide?
anyway, if you ever come my way, i'll be sure to take care of you whether you're an old hippie or a new one. but i must admit, i do prefer the old hippies!!

yet again, i have not read all the posts... (come on, there were 5 PAGES!!!).
cannabis? i've never had a bad experience. never smoked so much i ended up throwing up bile for 8 hours. never sped over the speedlimit. never felt aggressive, angry or afraid. well... paranoid, yes, but that's different and besides, that's when you hippie flip, right? ahhhhhh yes.
and one last thought, everytime i hang out with those that drink, i'm always documenting how loud and aggresive they are. they bring me down from my high. not good. so, i don't hang out with them very often. and that solved that.

i'm not a hippie, i'm a princess.
how many of you had panic attacks when you were a jw and when leaving?
i know of many jw women and a few men who suffered badly with panic attacks.
since recently having another spate of panic attacks i suddenly realised that i had been having them all my life.

i still have panic attacks, definitely not as often as when i was in. but the attacks are possibly due to the fact that i have chosen the fading route, which certainly leads to much anxiety.

i have something similar to an attack after doing shrooms (but that's an entirely different topic and those are mostly known as "gremlins" - :).

AND, i had a friend that had panic attacks her whole life. she would black out, shake violently, have a childhood memory, then wake up. no one was ever really around every time she had an "episode"... then at 39, she was finally diagnosed with epilepsy and all the while they weren't panic attacks... interesting eh?
