one song that recently reminded me of my exit, and brought tears to these brown eyes of mine:
U2 "Bad"
If you twist and turn away
If you tear yourself in two again
If I could, yes I would
If I could, I would
Let it go
Surrender
Dislocate
If I could throw this
Lifeless lifeline to the wind
Leave this heart of clay
See you walk, walk away
Into the night
And through the rain
Into the half-light
And through the flame
If I could through myself
Set your spirit free
I'd lead your heart away
See you break, break away
Into the light
And to the day
Oooh oooh, oooh oooh, oooh oooh oooh...
To let it go! And so to fade away
To let it go!
And so fade away
I'm wide awake
I'm wide awake
Wide awake
I'm not sleeping, oh no, no, no
If you should ask then maybe they'd
Tell you what I would say
True colors fly in blue and black
Bruised silken sky and burning flag
Colors crash, collide in blood shot eyes
Oooh oooh, oooh oooh, oooh oooh oooh...
If I could, you know I would
If I could, I would
Let it go
This desparation
Dislocation
Separation
Condemnation
Revelation
In temptation
Isolation
Desolation
Let it go
And so fade away
To let it go, oh yeah
And so fade away
To let it go, oh No
And so to fade away
I'm wide awake
I'm wide awake
Wide awake
I'm not sleeping oh no no

i've already searched through 30 threads and haven't found them yet and i am pretty sure i saw some.
and thanks, by the way, for those of you who willingly share your notes (and happily with the sarcastic overtones...). i really appreciate it.

Would the Watchtower have 'self destructed' if 1914 had been peaceful?
by AK - Jeff inanother thread sparked this one.. if 1914 had come and gone without the advent of wwi, would the sect of bible students have just faded into the woodwork?.
was the war [obviously heavily referenced as proof of their claims] the bouy that allowed and spurned the growth into what we see today?.

nah,
they would've found something to accommodate 1914 (like some civil war somewhere...) or else change 607 to 754 BCE... -

WHAT DO YOU SEE IN THE MIRROR?
by Terry ini see everything falling apart.
i have to suck it in; strike the right pose and choose the best angle to keep from grossing myself out.. what do you see?.
i'm 58 years old; what do i expect to see?.
-
Calliope
i wanna see a picture of terry!!!!!
sometimes i'm photogenic, sometimes not.
sometimes i'm "mirror-genic", sometimes not.
strangely, there are times i am surprised by what greets me in my reflection.
like i didn't expect so much grey (even though i know it's there)... and yet i still get "carded".
are my lips really that pouty?
so many freckles.

My sis calls & says,"Your dead"&"I wish you'd died in a car accident"(long)
by morwen inya know... i'm a bit amazed at times at how utterly out of touch with reality jw's can be.
here's a little bit of a background of what's been going on....
i've been having an on going issue with my jw family about my husband & i(and our 4 young children) no longer going to meetings and us having questions/problems with this religion.we are not df'd nor da'd (at this point) but have not been to a meeting in about 7 months and have been inactive for probably 3-4 years now.we haven't lived near my parents for several years so they have been a little "in the dark" so to speak as to us being inactive but we kinda were given a bit of "lee-way" since 5 yrs.

ALL TOO FAMILIAR...
it's not what you'd wish on anyone, but somehow, so many of us are going /will go through this.
remember you have all of our support.

What do you do when you're really nervous? (new pic)
by MsMcDucket ini have this habit of cutting my hair.
the longest that i was able to let it grow was to the top of my shoulders.
man, that took a lot of reservation on my part..

there are a variety of ways i deal with nervousness depending on the level of anxiety.
i clean. obsessively - like the toothbrush comes out (not mine, but someone else's of course), q-tips for tight corners. i unscrew the sink taps and wash them (they really do get grimy). scrub tiny spots on the carpet. wash walls... oh my.
i play the piano - if it's nearby.
i strum the guitar (in an intimidating attempt to convince myself i can play - which actually adds to the anxiety).
then there are the times when going POSTAL (!!!) is the only thing that will help.
cry.
scream into a pillow.
and then, sometimes i roll a joint (then smoke it).

Do you ever get overwhelmed trying to sort your thoughts out ...
by troubled mind inmaybe i need to start a journal or something to help sort my thoughts .
it seems like right now i have to many things to deal with at once and i don't know how to slow down and take one issue at a time .
this past weekend i met a pastor from the church down the street .incredibily nice guy .

i agree with both writing your thoughts down and therapy.
both have helped me tremendously.
writing things down organized my thoughts and provided direction. i could then choose and consider what needed attention. therapy provided further direction.
i also am pretty sure i suffer from A.D.D. (but possibly also hypochondria, so self-diagnosis is just a biproduct...) so writing my thoughts helps me concentrate.
best wishes in your path.

Why jw's can't research UN, etc..
by carla init seems they can't research any of the scandals or misquotes, etc... not only because you may have to use apostate books or sites or even non apostate info but because the mere idea came from apostates.
how else you would you even think to look into the un, misquotes or any other of the numerous problems?
no need to confuse yourself with the truth.. still banging head against wall,.

here's a little excerpt from discussions a wit-"friend" and i have been having.
setting the stage: i have told her that i've been assailed by monumental doubt and questions. she has agreed (because she is of the "pioneer slave class") to help me dispel these doubts. com'on isn't that sweet of her?
okay, so one issue i pointed out was:
"how can the light be getting brighter when there is a pattern of going back and forth over viewpoints and decisions (i.e. organ transplants)? how can there be room for error if the perfect holy spirit is propelling this organization forward?"
her reply?
"As for the Light getting brighter. I can certainly say that it is. These are a few examples. Back in the day Jehovah’s Witnesses celebrated Christmas, not realizing the ties it has with Babylonish false teachings. Smoking was banned in the 70’s because of the understanding of defilement of the flesh (2 Cor. 7:1). There used to be only one elder in every congregation, now there is a body of elders that can help each other. These are but a few."
ooooooohhhhhh! of course. well, these were apocalyptic turns in the history of the borg. let's just not mention things of greater import like the "new" understanding of this GENERATION?!??!?!

MS friend visiting in August
by sinis inmy good friend who knows i have "strayed" from the truth, via my wife, will be visiting us in august.
i'm sure the conversation will eventually turn to "encouraging" me to go back since the "end is near".
can anyone suggest some concrete discussions that i could use to get him to think outside the box?
