click on profile in the upper left corner of your screen. there is an area called picture, with several options. You can either keep it set to no picture or upload one from either your computer or a Web page on the Internet.
k, let's give this a try.
did it work? did it? huh?

And on the 8th day. God created the Beer Widget
by AlmostAtheist inhave you popped a can of guinness and heard that fwoosh sound?
you have surely waggled the can and heard that little thing knocking about inside?
that little thing is one of the 20th century's greatest contributions to mankind -- the beer widget.

WALKING IN THE PATH OF INCREASING LIGHT - WT STUDY
by Mary infor those of you not "keeping up with the organization"botchtower deals soley with all the bullshit instances of "increased light" on this joke of a religion god's organization.
it asks many drone-like thought-provoking questions as i've listed below.
incredible that these guys claim to be the sole ownership of what is absolute "truth", yet change doctrines like i change lipsticks.

It time to start loading the animals and the family on the ark of salvation because Jehovah is soon to close the door. A stronger cultistic agenda stressing loyalty and that everything outside is Satan's system at work will in my opinion allow them to hold on a little longer while they use this as an excuse to downsize and take the profits from real-estate sales. Does anyone else feel the same way?
interesting view. my initial thought was something similar to Jonestown.
(shivers)... scary.

Hanging by a thread
by IMustBreakAway inexcept that instead of feeling like a thread it feels like a giant knotted iron cable pulling at my heart.
we are among the 5th generation of witnesses, my great grand mother went to rutherfords funeral, and being a witness has always been central in their lives.
i went to bethel like my brother, and uncles before me and sat at the same sewing machine that my grandfather had sat at when he was there.

wow, you're living what i have this past year. only, i am the wife.
in the end, my husband (now nearly ex) da-ed himself.
but i have to continue living the lie, or at least fading imperceivably. my family has already lived through hell this past year with their son-in-law leaving and then us breaking up. it will be a very long time before they find out where i really am emotionally and mentally.
i suppose the only thing we can do is to hang in there.
SO HANG IN THERE!!!
and it's great that you're wife is so supportive too.

How Many Of You?
by justsomedude inhow many of you, when you were an active and zealous jw (assuming you were), were motivated by the paradise idea?
i was basically born in, so i wasn't drawn to the religion, it just was.. the whole idea of the paradise never really exicted me though.
i followed the religion and did what i did because i just believed it was the right thing to do and not so i could obtain the carrot on the end of the string.. how many of you felt the same way?

i always thought it really funny (and weird) that they would push these presentations where you'd ask the householder:
"wouldn't you like to live in a place similar to this artists' depiction of paradise?"
and the artists' depiction was so hokey and contrived and COLORFUL (like prisma color crayon drawings...)!!!
anyway, i always thought i'd kill myself before i ever even got to the/a paradise. and if there weren't any paradise, i'd never know. it's a good thing i didn't chose that route.

Double life, anyone??
by dinah inhow many of you lead double lives while growing up (especially those who grew up jw)?
in the last few days, it seems that bothers me about my adolescence.
i had to be one person for my mother, while still trying to be myself.

not so much "leading a double life" as compensating for my morally bereft attitude. i.e. pioneering so i could justify not feeling bad about the alcohol and substance abuse. ahhh, good times.

maybe the new enlightenment will have something to do with moving up the 1914 date of jesus' enthronement to something like 1935, then they can reinstate the generation view.
also, the blood issue would be something of interest. i wasn't around during the organ transplant "flipflop" but it must've been huge.
