Are you allowed to fall asleep at the meetings now??
by stillAwitness inthe sercuit overseer gave the expierence about an interested one who would come to the meetings every sunday but admitted he would always fall asleep because he worked a double shift at work the night before.
the s.o said: "and sure enough he fell asleep during my talk.
" but he said that it was so encouraging because even though he worked the night before he still tried to get what little he could of the talk and the guy related afterwards: "i would not want to be caught falling asleep anywhere else but at the hall.

Steamed broccoli... I know, I'm weird...lol
i totally get that. steamed broccoli, still firm, with butter and sea salt. YUM!!
but my all-time fav is simply french bread and french cheese (imported from France if you can get it), with a bottle of red.

To Those Who Still Go To Meetings, Do You Sense Anything Different?

in my hall, though i haven't been in 2 months (but no house calls yet so i'm happy), everyone is breeding and planning their "house schooling" itineraries. it's a little sad.
the comments are repetitive. the talks are repetitive. the material is repetitive. the same people (including yours truly) sitting in the back row, laughing heartily with another... that's the only entertainment i get at the meetings.
note: i have nothing against having children... it's just the twelve years olds having kids and then planning the congregational lives around raising these kids... sigh.

Results of "The Test" Are you a loner?
Your score = 55
What does your score mean? You're a happy medium on the loner scale. You enjoy socializing, but you also have your moods when you'd rather be alone. Social interaction is important for forming human bonds, getting support and affirming your own personal identity. (As Charles Augustin Sainte-Beauve said, "Tell me who admires and loves you, and I will tell you who you are.") But it's equally important to do things for yourself, have time to reflect and explore the world in your own way. In fact, doing things on your own makes you a stronger, more interesting person. Whether or not you consciously aspired to this state of harmony between independence and human bonding, you seem to have achieved it!

I think I've finally had it! (long)
by lynnmelo insome of you may know that i had regularly been studying with the jw's for about two years, but i was never baptized.
i stumbled on some information about the child molestation scandal a few months ago, and that started me on the road to questioning the organization (for further details on my situation, see my topic history).. anyway, up until now, i had decided to just fade into the background, still attending sunday kh meetings because i want to attend some church, and i just don't know where else to go (don't agree w/ the teachings of the other churches in my vicinity either).
my last "study" w/ my bible study conductor (a month or so ago) was terrible.

I'm angry now and don't even want to go back to the KH, but one part of me wants to continue going just to get her goat.
Is my bible study conductor's behavior the norm for when people decide they don't want to join?
as everyone has stressed, yes, this is normal conduct...
and consider yourself fortunate that you weren't drawn in any further!

a sad reality indeed. i agree that trust is the issue. where do you draw the boundaries with children, when do you trust them. the reality is, these issues will continue to be raised... much to the chagrin of parents. there's little we can do, other than educate our children. but how? kids are educated on sex and still make poor decisions regarding it.

JWs knock on my door three times in one week
by Sirona inmy husband is off work at the moment recovering from a double hernia operation.
the jws knocked one day and our friend, who was here doing a bit of painting for us, answered the door and simply told them he wasn't the householder.. then at the weekend, early on a saturday morning, they knocked again.
i was in my nightclothes and had only just gotten up, or i would have answered.

they can't formally df you if they haven't spoken with you and concluded that you are "unrepentant" in your ways.
so if you want things to stay in your court, then either ignore them or da yourself.
i'd go with ignore them personally. but once they have it in their minds (goes with most everything else in their minds), they often make it a mission to accomplish.
