  Deep Concerns

  years ago an evangelical christian couple invited me into their home on a hot summer day.

  over glasses of lemonade they shared their amazing theory about the watchtower society, a twisted but insanely plausible one that has mentally percolated over the years.

  every now and then their theory surfaces in my thoughts with occasional "what if" scenarios about the true nature of the mysterious "men behind the curtain in oz" (with oz being a metaphor for the vatican city of jehovah's witnesses' world that is headquartered in new york state).

  HI Tex, I can't speak for others, but I went through many religions, although not formally joining any until the JWs. I was raised Assembly of God, attended many Baptist Churches, married a Catholic for 12 years and looked deeply into that. I even flirted with the Mormon religion for a short while. Briefly looked at Buddhism, but not very deep. Of course, I looked into Lutherans and Methodists too, but by and large, Protestant religions are all about the same to me.

  Today, having left the JWs in the dust, I have reached the conclusion that religion itself is a snare and a racket (only truth old Joe ever told, maybe). While they all get caught up in doctrinal issues and arguing about such nonsense as a trinity, hellfire, cross or stake, most all neglect some very important words uttered by Jesus at John 13:34, 35

  KJV John 13:34-35
  34. A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
  35. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

  Nearly all preach this, but which one really practices it?

  For me, mostly I am trying to get the house cleaned up where the soon to be ex and her brats never did housework. Of course, there is the yard too, but it's pretty wet, so maybe I'll have to let it grow higher, only past my ankles right now.

  Tonight, I get to babysit my two grandsons while Mom & Dad go out with friends. They feel bad to ask me to sit, but I look on it as a privilege.

  Of course, since I worked all week, I take a lot of breaks and watch a little TV and nap some too. Tomorrow, I'll watch the race and continue the smae old boring routine.

  Hopefully, someday I will met a decent woman and we can share responsibilities and on weekends, drive to the coast or the mountains and enjoy getting away together.

  i'm just curious...if you had the opportunity, who on this board would you like to meet if given the chance (or could without getting "in trouble"!)?

  (could be serious, could be fun...) i for one, am just sooo curious to meet the cat himself... just to find out if he's much different in person than in his online persona!

  ...and maybe pet him a few times in the process...

  well it had to happen.. the twelve year old told a whopper.. however, she didn't lie to us.

  nope, she lied to my parents.. some weeks back she innocently told them she had been to see lord of the rings twice and you can guess their reaction:.

  Ah, isn't normal kid stuff wonderful??? But, don't say she lied, just say she engaged in disinformation. On top of that, since it would only be a lie if the one she was speaking to was entitled to know the truth, there was no need for the grandparents to know what she was reading, right?

  Ain't Watchtower doctrine grand, when used for enjoyment?

  When I was growing up, we had two Avocado trees in our back yard. huge suckers from down there. What they calssify as large out here barely equals the seed from the Florida Avs.

  But mangos, if you get the right variety are awesome. Only haydens will do. Not stringy and sweet. of course, if they get over ripe, YUCK!

  I often get real homesick for Florida.

  Florida is where I grew up and came to love Quava jelly, Venice. I have special ordered it through local stores, but I recently found one store, Natures, that seems to have it on the shelf.

  Now, if I could just find some decent Avocado pears and mangoes out here.

  Would you kiss up to your boss to get ahead?

  this is a question, that i am very curious about, wondering or pondering, thinking if some people would kiss up to their bosses to get ahead in the company that they were employed in; to get a raise, or a promotion, and then i'm thinking of the 'special treatment' clause if you had a personally relationship w/ your supervisor?

  i guess w/ my present day situation the thought has crossed my mind, and i can't help but wonder this...if one particular person is "using" me to advance his career.

  this is a jw issue, cuz this person is a jw.

  I think very little of anyone that uses another to get ahead. I am pretty much a take me as I am guy, or not at all.
