That's one thing JWs seldom observe within their ranks -- acts of kindness.

What do you think about the anointed?
by MrFreeze indo you think most of those who claim to be anointed are faking it or do you think they actually believe they are anointed?
it's something i've always wondered..

What do I think? I'm in awe of their well-deserved and hard-earned "spirituality."
There was also this very rich kid in my high school (from the other side of the tracks). I was totally in awe of his well-deserved and hard-earned circumstances,

TRINITY Challenge for JW's, Unitarians and Anyone Else
by UnDisfellowshipped intrinity challenge using only the new world translation of the holy scriptures -- let us debate and reason on the scriptures about whether god almighty is a trinity, or is only one person.. on another thread, bane said that we know for a fact immediately that nearly all religions other than jehovah's witnesses are false because almost all of them believe in the trinity.
and bane claims he can "out-scripturize" anyone with the help of jehovah.
* the son was praying to the father.

Go to any reputable liberal arts college. Sign up for Freshman Philosopy 101 and buy the textbook. Look up the "Philosophy of Religion" section in the textbook. Read the chapter about "The Problem of Suffering and Evil."
Think.
(And while you're there, I'd also recommend a science class or two.)

I'm reasonably certain there is no god. I'm three times more reasonably certain there is no Trinity.

As a Man have your Attitudes Towards Women Changed since Exiting JW's ?
by flipper inbeing raised in the jehovah's witness cult - i saw so many times what would be referred to as " supportive wives " wait after meetings for an hour, two hours, even more until midnight for husbands who met in backrooms meeting to decide on judicial matters if some individual witness was righteous - or not.
wives of elders were expected to do this to show submission and alleged " respect " for the headship arrangement or eldership of their husbands !
incredible.

Have your JW Relatives Explained about Generation/Overlap Change to You ?
by flipper inafter reading on the way out's thread about his mom explaining the generation overlap to him it kicked this idea into my head to make this thread .
i thought it would be helpful to see if anybody here has had jw relatives or friends try to explain this " generation overlap " theory to you as a faded or inactive witness and what happened in the conversations.
so please feel free to post your experiences.

Spoke to my mom yesterday on the phone. Asked her how the convention went. She said they released a new brochure and a DVD blah blah. She never mentioned the generation change. Probably over her head. She's just there to socialize.
I'm tempted to email my Elder older brother. "Hey bro, what's this about overlapping generations I keep reading about on the internets?"

Maybe the borg should let the congregations take a vote on this issue. You think it would be voted in?
In fact, let 'em vote on shunning, blood, and all other major doctrines.
(Of course, the smart ones vote with their feet.)

For Terry - So That it Will "Make Sense"
by Perry interry, since you have long proclaimed your inability to comprehend the greatest expression of love in the universe, substitutionary atonement; perhaps this scene from the last of the mohicans will help you to understand.. the chief has just handed down a death sentence to the brunette daughter of the captured english general.
the english officer in this scene can speak both english and french.
since daniel day lewis can only speak mohican and english, and the cheif can only speak huron and french, the captured english officer must translate to the chief in french.

It seems to me, when you make a sacrifice, you are actually giving up something that you really want or value. For instance, I might want to go to a much anticipated one-time-only event tonight, but my wife wants to go to a movie. In the interest of marital harmony and my wife’s happiness, I decide to sacrifice my event in favor of her movie. I can never go to that particular event again.
Now Jesus, we are told, gave up (sacrificed) his life as a ransom for our sins. But what did he really give up? He knew he would be raised on the third day, and to an even more exalted position.
Wouldn’t you or I do the same thing? But would you or I (or Jesus) agree to make that sacrifice if we knew we wouldn’t be resurrected, that in fact we’d be dead eternally? Here's a good line from an old post: "...Jesus didn't sacrifice his life for mankind, as the thing that makes death so bad is it's permanence. Jesus just had a bad weekend for man."

Does God Have A Visible Organization Today?
by wannabe indoes god have a visible organization today?.
well, whether we agree with them or not, the governing body of jehovah's witnesses certainly believes he does have, and they tell us, that the watchtower bible and tract society is that visible organization.
as we see, they also tell us that their watchtower society is the channel or instrument through which the spiritual food is delivered to other members of the household.. 1939 "we acknowledge as the visible organization of jehovah on earth the watchtower bible & tract society, and recognize the society as the channel or instrument through which jehovah and christ jesus give instruction and meat in due season to the household of faith.
