The 3D monster is right there, hiding in the picture. Just look! Concentrate!

Why did God kill children?
by brotherdan inthe atheists and bible deniers love to talk about how hateful and murderous god is.
i suggest the following.
i believe that the children that were killed in warfare by the israelites were taken to heaven with god.

Why do people defend monsters?
by AK - Jeff inthe 'god' of the jw's is a god that will kill billions at armageddon.
the christian 'god' in general is a god that [according to their own holy book] already killed millions in the ot.
this 'god' ordered the slaughter of innocent virgins and children and old men and old women so that his people could take the land.

Every father is viewed differently by his children.
The heavenly Father is no exception.
So if I don't see him as the monster he obviously is, then I'm not truly one of his children?

It's kinda like those pictures that were popular a number of years ago, I think they called them "hallusions," a play on the words "illusion" and "hologram," I think.
One person could look a the oversized framed photo, and not see anything but interesting colors and designs. Another person could look at the same photo, and after a minute or so of concentration, a distinct 3D image would amazingly jump out.
There was a trick to getting your eyes to focus in a certain way, in order to see the hidden 3D image. If you couldn't somehow "discover" how to do that, it was almost impossible for another "enlightened" person to get you to see it their way.
I could never get my wife to see the 3D camels and pyramids in the photo we owned.
Anyway, that's what the bible and god and religion is to me -- grand hallusions. Some of us can see the 3D monsters that leap from the pages of the OT, other can't. They just can't, and probably never will.

That is why the Bible is a book of faith. You are allowed to take it or leave it.
<Sigh>
Things have to be understood in relation to the times... has God changed or is it more likely human progression ?
No, the imaginary OT god has not changed. But, thankfully, freethinking is a human progression -- a very, very sloooooooow human progression.

I still remember the first time Mom read that stuff to us and showed us those pictures, even though I was only about four years old at the time. She explained what was happening to all those people in the pictures. She said they were being destroyed at Armageddon, because they were all bad people. I looked at the people and I started crying. They didn’t look like bad people to me. They all just looked scared. I couldn’t understand why all that was happening to those people in the pictures. All I knew was that I didn’t ever want to fall down into that big hole in the ground with all those other people.

Fibonacci numbers and 144,000
by Beta Male inthe twelfth fibonacci number is 144, since they start counting the sequence with zero.
that just seems an neat "coincidence" eh?
all this religious stuff has its roots in the study of mathematics and the stars, doesnt it?

Not sure how evolution explains mathmatics, or how mathmatics explains evolution, but if my theory holds up, they must.

Two things (I think) I know.
1. Everything is mathmatical.
2. Evolution explains everything.
(That only took me 50+ years!)

How credible is the wt claim to be chosen by Christ in 1919.
by coffee_black ini brought this up to debator on another thread... and he/she ignored it... thought the subject deserved its own thread...for anyone who has never read the finished mystery.. .
the watchtower claims that jesus inspected the churches in 1919 and chose the watchtower to represent god on earth, based upon the spiritual food they were dispensing at that time.. .
note:.

Two observations:
1) The Finished Mystery is such an accidentally ironic title. Modern JW readers will indeed finish the mystery of their whacked-out religion.
2) Being an ex-JW is just too much fun sometimes. Everyone should become a JW, read the FM, then drop out, just to share our joy.

"There's really no good reason why we should turn our time in late"
by Crisis of Conscience inanother wonderful part this week at the meeting.
and this is what the brother said.. he related examples, based on the om book, as to how jehovah kept records.
funny part is, they all applied to population, the amount of people.. is there any part of the bible that talks about how jehovah kept a log of hours on some occasion?

Why don't they just create a website and let the Brothers turn in their time online?
