  if you decide not to continue telling your story, that is totally understandable to me after the comments from yesidid and dontplaceliterature.

  however, the majority of us would love to hear the rest of it and i think you would love (even need) to write it.

  i'm sure you are well aware that the majority of us on this board have a certain kind of affection for you and respect, and we value your point of view and your opinions.

  Does God Create Evil?

  the view held by christian theology is that god did not create evil.

  you may argue this point using scripture to support either side.

  however that argument is but a symptom of a much larger problem which is choice and free will.. the concept among christians is that sin, suffering, and evil deeds began with the original sin.

  Understanding Christ's Sacrifice

  i haven't always understood how christ could have carried our sins for us, and had them forgiven.

  i've sort of understood because that's what people say he did, but the ransom (in a legalistic adam/jesus way) never held weight for me.

  but something recently happened that allowed me to understand.

  This whole "sacrifice" thing has always bothered me (as I've posted before).

  It seems to me, when you make a sacrifice, you are actually giving up something that you really want or value. For instance, I might want to go to a much anticipated one-time-only event tonight, but my wife wants to go to a movie. In the interest of marital harmony and my wife’s happiness, I decide to sacrifice my event in favor of her movie. I can never go to that particular event again.
  
  Now Jesus, we are told, gave up (sacrificed) his life as a ransom for our sins. But what did he really give up? He knew he would be raised on the third day, and to an even more exalted position.
  
  Wouldn’t you or I do the same thing?

  But would you or I (or Jesus) agree to make that sacrifice if we knew we wouldn’t be resurrected, that in fact we’d be dead eternally?

  hi, i am new here and both understand and respect, at the end of the day, we are each on our own personal journey with our own personal spirituality.

  i am most sincere and look forward to your kind thoughts about if we should try to understanding god.

  as a young child i remember believing in and loving god but, of course, did not think about understanding him.

  CC, the truth is you are already an atheist for the most part (Zeus, anyone?), there's just one deity you are still clinging to. That's ok. Read some philosophy, some Dawkins, some Hitchens, some Harris.
