WTS claimns an unbroken line of witnesses from Abel on down, but when Jesus established the Christian congregation, the Bible says that "by Divine Providence they were called Christians".
I wonder why Rutherford thought he could improve on Divine Providence?
Since Jesus was "the faithful and true witness" I guess by default his followers became witnesses. Did we really "witness" anything? Is there another appropriate application of that word?

if as many here suggest tj is the boss and with schroeder's death has the capability of getting a 2/3 vote on key issues that come before the gb then....... what issues is he likely to press?.
perhaps someone here who is friends with ray franz could find out what issues or changes tj was particularly interested in that haven't occurred.. for example, was tj in favor of adding or taking away one meeting a week?
is he happy with the current theocratic ministry school arrangement?

do the other witnesses with whom you associate/once associated in general know that you are an apostate or have apostate inclinations?
the reason for the phrase "in general" is that it may be the case that one or two close friends know how you feel, but others in general do not.
in my own case, one other witness knows, but no one else, so i would answer the survey question with a "no".

i used to hate it when i'd listen to brother blow give his long winded comment about how we're all supposed to do this or that----and he was barely considered a witness......we had a few elders, and especially the po who would go overtime just because they could.
the po's bookstudy always went overtime.
45 minutes into the meeting he was still on paragraph 3. and he would read every scripture including the ones quoted!!!
Among other things,
every year in preparation for the Dist. Convention we would have to have the mindless parts about saving seats, wearing our badges and how to conduct ourselves at our hotel.
It made me sick, sick, sick. EVERY Year.
i'm sure this will have been discussed before..but i am new here, so i was wondering how many of you when you where active jw's actually beleived you were going to survive armageddon.
i personally being brought up in the 'truth' used to lie in bed frightened of it coming or world events always thinking i was too bad a person to survive, and even as an adult i always felt i was never doing enough or good enough to be 'chosen' for survival when the end came u were always made to feel like you should be doing more as though you could earn your salvation.
i have talked to someone else who i know has left and they felt the same, i was wondering how many of you guys actually beleived you would make it through armageddon
I felt that I would survive. I based that feeling, not on my own goodness or righteousness, but that the Bible was full of examples of people that had made very serious errors, and yet were forgiven by Jehovah and went on the enjoy his approval. I think of Lot, David, King Manasseh and others like that.
I felt that Jehovah want us to do the best we could but that his requirements wouldn't be so high that they couldn't be reached by about anyone who loved him and wanted to put forth the effort to acknowledge him and try to do the things pleasing to him.
I still feel the same way.

YES,
I knew an elder from Conway Arkansas that had an affair with another brothers wife in 1966-67. He moved away to Ozark, Missouri, and served there for a bunch of years. About 1986 or 87, I got a call from his son re: his father's daliance (which I was already aware of), and he also informed me that the elders opted NOT to remove him. Caused quite a stir for those of us that knew about it.
