I thought John Denver and Glen Campbell got baptized together at an assembly in Washington. I heard Jay Leno gave the talk.

i 've heard snippets of this absurd urban myth about jay leno asking j denver to leave his show because he hated jw's.
but why on earth on a prime time slot would j leno start asking j denver about jw's?
and i don't think j leno is a particularly spiritual guy or wt supporter is he?

i am on this discussion board for support because i am meeting with the local jws to discuss scripture and hopefully plant seeds of doubt that will eventually lead to them leaving the organization.
you may also know that my mother was raised in a different cult, and was dfd for marrying my father (an outsider).
this caused great suffering in our family, and we were shunned for many years.
Thank you for the information and the great post.
It is just short of fascinating to see how these cultish religions operate.
I am going to look up some info on the Open Brethren. Do you have a site in mind for that?

recently e-watchman started deleting/suspending (theres a difference?
) accounts of people on the e-jehovahs-witnesses.com forum left and right which he and the moderating team deemed to be discussing apostate things as in apostate in brother kings own vision, further detailed in some posts (basicly barring out discussions of jw doctrine).. i suppose my own offenses was my "staying in the org.
" thread and one that explained that one should not depend on kh's to be able of worshipping.
Cindy,
Very well put.

Re: Timothy Kline
I think he is a paid moderator of EW. I'm not sure about the pay, but he has made it clear that although he does not agree with EW on everything, that he will enforce the rules of the DB.
Thats not much of a hypocritical stand is it?

as you may know rutherford completly changed the original teachings and structure of the watchtower bible and tract society.some say he and his followers were cursed from that day forward.....what you may not know is,rutherford died of "rectal cancer"..the doctors first noticed a crack in his bum.as things degenerated in that area,a small hole appeared.finally it rotted out and he died..to this very day, every jehovah`s witness has died with a hole in thier bum.....coincidence or curse?
?...outlaw
Outlaw,
This is bitter news for me. I thought Rutherford was a perfect asshole.
Disappointment rules!

as a teenager i read the following books in school that i feel had a profound effect on me and my character building.
a man for all seasons by robert bolt (a play) .
to kill a mockingbird by harper lee.
I also read Lord of the Flies
To Kill a Mockingbird
Animal Farm

They were among my favorites!
Also enjoyed J.D. Salingers'--Catcher in the Rye
Read a lot of Steinbeck in High School too, especially enjoyed Tortilla Flat and Grapes of Wrath and In Dubious Battle.
My favorite of all time is the two volume, "Winds of War" and War and Remembrance" by Herman Wouk. Unbelieveable works!

all 3 sent letters out to a select group of friends and family before they gave their letters to the elders.
