by bubble inhi everybody and happy new year.
2007 is the year i turn 40, in fact in exactly one month's time to be precise.. i've noted that a lot of people on jwd are a similar age to me.
i think it's because it takes us this long to pluck up the courage to finally leave the borg.. i need to know how turning 40 makes you feel.

Could someone be amassing a personal fortune at Watchtower land?
by Gill inhow sure can we be that no one or even two or more jw is amassing a personal fortune at the expense of the watchtower slaves and the watchtower society?.
locally, there was an elder who was able to have affairs with three different women, including his wife for thirty years.
during that same time he had his hand in the contribution box to keep his business going.. we're talking thirty years here.. i agree with many posts here that the legal dept actually run the wtbts now and not the governing body.

It must be possible in some way or other. Some of these guys are in positions of trust, and some are trustee's for the ownership of Halls. I have heard about some Aussie guy from Adelaide, South Australia who used a K Hall as security for a loan that went belly up and the hall was repossessed!
Knorr used to have two first class seats on the plane, one for him and one for his witnessing bag. Well that is pretty right , this happened in the eightees I think in the Adelaide hills area of Mt.Barker and he was was an elder and one the top honchos at the time on the quick build committee for the district ,you know the type, lotsa relatives as JW's ,a big arrogant attitude about himself and had too much power over the affairs of the quick builds. Of course had the mates in bethel etc. so had the freedom to put up WTS property as back up for his business as a builder. For some time I would hear of trades people not getting paid by him to do his private work so he must have looked for an easy option...take the brothers money. I believe one relative also was a builder and corrupt the same way for someone stuck some jelly in a concrete slab of his and blew it up! When this first brother got caught out he would stand at the assembly hall doors and hand out programs "humbly" and I complained to his elder cronie mates who ran the assembly hall that a normal publisher would not get priveleges like he did if they sinned like him - well that did not go welll! Now this is the clincher......people wanted to take the WTS property away legally as they were owed money by this blokes business and he had put up as collateral WTS property and it did not look good for the society losing out ,so do you know what they did..................................... They begged for money donations at local Kingdom Halls for them to defray the cost of littigation and loss of property!!!!!!! I'm not sure how it all turned out for we moved interstate at the time but that elder did get DF"d some time later but I don't know if it was for the reason above. My wife and I would be challenged at the doors from householders about this affair when witnessing and we lived about 40 km away! So I guess you can siphon from the society ,for when we moved interstate the first congregation we went to there asked me to audit the Kingdom Hall books, and when I asked them why me? they said the brother that did the books for the past few years had just been caught out for stealing tens of thousands of dollars and they wanted someone new and independent to audit them...whew it goes on..... -

Perhaps this is a part of a campaign to soften up the witnesses for a huge change in doctrine like 1914

No where in the bible does it say Jesus taught his disciples wrong teachings to spread after his death and then change the teaching ,and the same goes for the other NT writers ,they did'nt teach and preach wrong things and then apostle John changed the teachings in his books written much later. The first century writings stayed the same , the only teaching that has changed is the 19th, 20th century writings of the WTS ,so if you don't start your org with truth ,how can it ever preach and teach bible truth?

YOU "THINK" YOU KNOW.....BUT...YOU DON'T KNOW!!
by Terry inthe door to door work is a sham.. the central activity of the watchtower bible and tract society is not spreading their so-called "messege" about the kingdom of jehovah established in the heavens in 1914. that's a load of propaganda.. the door to door activity is feckless in producing converts.
in fact, it is an immense failure of mammoth proportions!.
but, it is a diversion.

What a great read TERRY ....perhaps you should take note of Mad Tiger 's comments "Whether true or not, Dan Brown or Tom Clancy should get started on it quick!!!" Start writing your first book ,I'd buy a copy

Article on Origins of Xristianity I Wrote REALLY UPSET Local Christians
by Seeker4 ini had an assignment to write a bunch of holiday articles that would be shared by all the various papers owned by the guy who owns the paper i'm the editor of.
after i'd had enough with the usual holiday stuff, i decided to get a little adventerous and expanded one in the series to include, not just the origins of christmas foods, but also some ideas i've been reading and watching about the origins of the chrisitain religion itself.. this is a link to the article, which ran a few weeks ago: .

"I've seen how emotional this issue is in discussions on this board, but I have to say that the level of anger it creates when someone questions fundamentalist beliefs is more than a little scary. I can understand why people like Sam Harris and Richard Dawkins keep their locations under wraps!
S4"
This reminded me of a fanatic years ago when I was witnessing with a young girl from door to door, we noticed a house was a do not call as we just started up the driveway, and before we could turn around this minister holding a large wooden cross held it in front of him and screamed at us we were the spawn of Satan and even continued this tirade when we went to the house next door! What a looney ,the poor girl was terrified.

Anyone thought of this?
by wozadummy inwhen one of the 144k dies they are spoken of , especially in jw literature ,as having finished their earthly course.
why don't they say they've gone to heaven?
could it be that they don't want to commit to saying this in case it is later found that the person has committed a serious sin they did'nt confess to while alive?

Thanks for the comment Terry
For many years I could'nt understand why the number never decreased ,and I guess that was one of those things I filed away for a rethink later when questioning everything they teach. It's amazing how the way and what they teach seems so plausible , for a while, then when you run the numbers it all crashes, and I guess what keeps the bullshit all together is the language they use as I stated in my first post.

Could it be that they don't want to commit to saying this in case it is later found that the person has committed a serious sin they did'nt confess to while alive? Does this show how little confidence and suspicion they have of each other ,or have they concluded that it would be prudent to say it this way after consulting the WTS lawyers?

When is a fade finished?
by Nellie inso i was thinking - if i don't da myself and they don't df me, am i doomed forever to this limbo called "fade?
" when do i stop worrying about "what if they find out?
" when will they (if they saw me) just think of me as someone they knew, rather than "one of their flock" - even when they know i'm inactive?

I pretty much agree with Ozzie , I just stopped going after expressing my opinions at the book study and privately to the elders on some things and now I'm feeling a sense of peace and less anger, and they don't bother to look me up since my wife DA'd.
Everyones circumstance must be different for we are individuals and some are surrounded by different family members still in, so making judgements on what to do is now put back on us since leaving , unlike when still a JW and not making our own decisions( but just checking what the WTS says) and following their advised course on things.
For instance it might be beneficial to consider finishing a fade by DAing ,for a person might consider it a good move to have the DA announced at the hall if it may affect the people there by wondering why you would leave, especially if you were popular and everyone then started to query why .This happened to my wife ,they could'nt understand why she DA'd and then the Pioneer sister told the congo members she left because of her elder father molesting her for years and the WTS took no action against him (this of course brought the wrath of the elders against the sister for blabbing). My wife had good reason to fade quickly ,then DA and it affected the congo ,to what extent we'll have to see. As for me, I resent at the moment going out of my way to go to the elders and DA ,as if they still meant something to me but that could change one day, in the mean time I can have access to JW's to sow seeds of doubt which I don't think I could iff I DA'd.
