  Is it possible that Russell just associated with people who were Masons and who were predominantly Christian perhaps out of a common fascination at being diferent and in charge of their own beliefs rather than having the parish clergy telling them what to do?

  Being who he was he perhaps decided not to be a member but just associate and discuss things with the Masons ,but with his agenda being that he wanted to start his own religion ,his ego would not permit him to answer to an authority above his own that he was creating?

  WHY don't Americans realize GUNS are destroying their country?

  usa today everyone has a gun, why?.....to protect themselves...from who?

  other folks with guns!.....yes it's in your laws...but they were written when the british ruled you.

  one school gun killing every week does not happen anywhere else in the world....maybe you need more guns to protect your kids.....one in the lunchbox.....does anyone else see this.

  Brothers who were Gay but couldn't admit/accept it! Did you have some?

  i have come to realize that being gay is something you are just born with....so why judge them if it's like being born a certain race.. a brother g_____ i knew was a zealous pioneer pushing 43 years old.

  he never married though the sisters thought he was dreamy and he had plenty of offers....."she's not for me" he would always, many times tell me some excuse.

  he loved to give only brothers a big hug...say if you gave a public talk or something.

  I only knew one person in our area who may have been gay within. Was a policeman ,seemed blokey and always loved the company of young men in the police force and in the KH .There was always snide remarks over the years about whether he was gay.

  He quit the police after the society drew the line about carrying a weapon as part of his job. He'd be still in and in his sixties now but I wonder whether he actually was just different.

  I know a an ex sister who's gay ,could never find a man in the JW's though I thought she was ok to look at but maybe a little forthright at times.

  That's about it for over twenty years of being a JW ,but I always thought there was more perverts ,pedophiles in the JW's than gays ,maybe that's just the situation here but maybe more gay JW's in Sydney.OZ

  HONESTY - very succinct .I never was at Bethel but to show how it effects others ,consider my case - worked for a company but turned down huge promotions ( one was in the 80's to run the affairs of the company in HONG KONG ) for the sake of the "truth" and what I read in the mags .I thought I would be pleasing Jehovah by keeping my job humble ,it seemed the spiritual thing to do blah blah

  Well they tired of me and now I'm your age with 5 busted disks and still doing manual labor and virtually no money for the future ,Armagggeddon was coming was'nt it? ....right

  John Mellencamp & Sheryl Crow -a wonderful night!

  my woife and i went to the best concert last night at the adelaide entertainment centre.

  did'nt go to many things like that when we were jw as it's just not something done here by jw's unless you keep it quiet .

  i love all sorts of music and even make some of my own.

Did'nt go to many things like that when we were JW as it's just not something done here by JW's unless you keep it quiet . I love all sorts of music and even make some of my own. I'd forgotten how loud it can be .

  It was the same venue we used to go to district assemblies but now we got real value for our time spent.

  The sound tech stuffed up a bit where we were sitting ,as it sounded a bit over modulated when Sheryl Crow played but she was absolutely fantastic ,such a big voice for a tiny woman. I really liked some of here new stuff.

  But what a bonus to have two great stars on the same night. John Mellencamp had them eating out of his hand and we had great sing-a-longs.

  It surprised me when he said that he came back here after 15 years and wanted to play one of his songs that he had'nt played for 15 years ,and then he revealed why ,as when he was 22 years old , it was here that he actually had his first number 1 hit..... WOW.

  And to make the night special he introduced to us his 13 year old son to play guitar ,but he joked it was only part time.

  Both of these performers spoke of how bad things had got in America and Mellencamp said he'd written the President to say that the president should hand back the country to Britain as they could'nt do a worse job of running it!!!

  He's not frightened to make political comments lol

  Anyway ,fantastic show by both and it is good that some things are still very good in the old U S of A

  Sexless marriages

  i've heard of a fair few sexless marriages in the borg, probably something to do with the fact that if you're raised "in" you'll have a pretty skewed view of sex by the time you finally get to do it.

  so if someone is trapped in a sexless marriage, from a jw standpoint they could get an unscriptural divorce...but...that doesn't leave them free to remarry??!

  I hear ya Mickey . My first wife was a bit timid with the goodies ,terrified of orgasms ,she had a witness mother who brought her up telling her sex was bad and her mother would tease her father then let him down ,the sick bitch.

  Well when she left me (incredibly for anther man ,who would have thought) I went to my book study conductor and wanted to talk about how to get a divorce (at that time I did'nt know she had done the dirty on me) .He explained I'll just have to live with it ,"well " I said "I'll go to the city and get a hooker for the night and then be incredibly repentant and you'll re-instate me and then I can get a scriptuall divorcre ,eh?" He did'nt know what to say.

  i've lived through some ... a death where my brother caught an elderly lady as she dropped dead while singing !.

  a girl in early twenties marries a man (elder) 27 years older ..still married 30 years later !.

  an elder is stabbed with a knife.. but it hits his belt buckle.. police called.

  At an assembly and a brother was telling me loudly about this old scruffy brother 2 rows back who was farting all the time during the sessions ,and he pointed out loudly that he must eat a lot of meat as everone could smell the fermented beast the old man was farting out!

  in bali yesterday three terrorist who bombed two night clubs killing and injuring many hundreds of aussies were executed by firing squad.

  huge crowds of angry people showed up to support these martyrs.

  in bali most people treat them like rock stars....the same with 9/11 middle eastern people dancing in the streets.

  How about that some rotten people murdered some other people who they considered to be living western style hedonistic lifestyles ,and the main body of Muslims considered this to be shocking.It would'nt be the first time people have butchered people like this ...look at Christian Ireland ,was'nt much Christian charity shown setting off bombs there.
