Haha, I am running to find my long black skirt with the slit, open toed heels, ankle bracelet and big hoop earrings, and I'll be there! With my checkbook, that's the main thing, right?

Riddle me this....
by Serene inhello everyone... im new here!
i have a question...maybe you guys can give me some insight.
i have a boyfriend whom i looooooove.

Hi, Serene!
Please be aware, that JW's do not salute the United States (or any) flag, serve in the armed forces, celebrate any holidays or birthdays, and refuse blood transfusions even if they will die.
These are just some of the oddities of this religious cult. Here's another problem for many: a college education is frowned upon, especially graduate school. It is considered a waste of time better spent in door to door preaching. Your career is something you should rightly be proud of, but they will not encourage it.
Women are to be in submission to men and are expected to be subordination to male headship. Women are not equal to men in JW families. Now, we all know better, but they would require you to go along with this, if you continue the relationship with him, and eventually get sucked in. Since you are an intelligent, competent woman in law school, can you really accept male headship and a subservient role? He is probably keeping quiet about you to his family, while he tries to get you started attending the Kingdom Hall. Then, he will urge you to begin a home Bible study with one of the Sisters. After you are attending regularly, and seem to be on the verge of becoming a JW, it will be OK to let Mom meet you. He can then present you as an interested person, who is studying to become a JW.
Either he needs to get out, or you need to join in. They will make it so miserable for him that either he will give in to the pressure and break it off, or you will sell out your beliefs and values, possibly estranging yourself from your friends and family, to take up this odd life inside a cult.
Best of luck to you!

An irate couple came to the post office to ask why they weren't getting any mail at their new place. I asked them if they turned in a change of address notice, and they said, "No! You're the post office! You guys are supposed to know where we live!" I said, well we don't know, if you don't tell us where you went. Woman: "That's bull! It ain't our job to tell you!"
Hmmmm!

Timeshares?
by Plummet ingrowing up our only "vacations" were the district conventions and circuit assemblies.
depending on what my parents could afford, we would try to do an activity in the assembly city, like an amusment park, or a nice restaurant, or a day at the beach.
even now, as we try to fade, our main vacation revolves around the assembly.

Hi! Hubby and I have a timeshare with Hilton resorts. We can convert our week to RCI, they've got international resorts all over the world. If we roll our week into next year, we could have two weeks in Europe very cheap! We've been very pleased with the places we've stayed... the coast of Spain, New Hampshire, the Flaming resort in Las Vegas, to name a few. Once our contract is paid off, we stay free, only paying the maintenance bill once a year to clean and repair the property. It is deeded and sellable, a good investment that lets your family stay at some really nice properties you might not otherwise afford.

This Year The Push Is REALLY On To Invite EVERYONE To The Memorial!
by minimus inthe word's out to invite anyone and everyone-----as this could be the last celebration (per my mother as she heard it at the hall).
-
Virgochik
Brothers, it has come to our attention that some interpreted the "last" Memorial Celebration to mean the "final" Memorial of Jesus death and resurrection. Sadly, such ones have leaned upon their own understanding and have run ahead of the Organization, in their zeal, adding to what was said from the platform. hahahaha!

Rude Behavior In The Office
by Bstndance inhey everyone,.
so there is this girl at our office who has her share of personality flaws.
people joke around with her about them and she is a good sport about it.
-
Virgochik
It's too bad people had to be hurtful to her. Really she should be laughing at them! I either wash my hands frequently, due to contact with the public, or apply Germ-X hand sanitizer.
I can't even remember when I last had a cold, or the flu, even when half the office had it, the ones who laughed at me, lol!

E-mail response from an old dub friend......
by schne_belly inokay, so i suppose i asked for this...but regardless i'm ready to puke!
last week i e-mailed an old "dub" friend from another city.
she's had some health issues and i hadn't heard from her for a few months, and wanted to know how she was doing....her brother also recently got married and i asked about that as well.

What a shame. That poor woman is deeply brainwashed and writes like a zombie. Sadly, reading between the lines, I'd say the "special friendship" is on shaky ground, unless you reassure her of what she wants to hear from you.
An honest explanation of where you stand and what you believe might be too much for her to handle, but you never know when a small seed is planted. Years from now, if she comes to have doubts, at least she will know of someone she can talk to.
I'm so sorry, it hurts to find out someone wasn't a true friend, always thru thick and thin.

Comments You Will Not Hear at the 3-26-06 WT Study (Gathering)
by blondie ingathering things in heaven and things on earth.
the christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth.
" (1 corinthians 10:16) in what way do those partaking of the wine `share in the blood of the christ'?
-
Virgochik
Blondie, thank you so much for doing this for us each week. I am sure sometimes it is hard to find the time. Most of us here appreciate it!Dozy, ya know what they say...the truth hurts.
Jgnat, what a wonderful idea, to remember Christ in our own homes. What a shame that once again, some six million people will refuse to partake of the bread and wine, and hurt Jesus by passing the emblems to the next "observer."

If you were still a good JW, would you be tired of waiting?
by JH in.
if you were still a good jw, would you be tired of waiting, and discouraged that not much of what the watchtower predicted happened yet?.
does the watchtower just expect every jw to smile and wait forever?

They're thinking, well we've come this far...we don't want to give up now!I agree with Anewme! Cut the losses and get on with enjoying the life God meant for us to enjoy!
