  Society goes nuts--yet another "special" campaign for September!

  in an earlier post here http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/114651/1.ashx i noted the society's "special campaign" for september, an "awake" magazine dedicated to the topic of evolution vs. creation.

  there is a "special campaign" to highlight that magazine all month.. got a call from our po last night.

  there is going to be yet another "special campaign" in september -- a new "kingdom news" tract.

  Juni, I remember the Special Cam-PAIN about this maybe being our final march around the walls, like the Israelites blowing their trumpets at Jericho. Everyone at the Service Meeting gasped when they said, "Brothers...who knows what this may signify! Could this be our final blowing of the trumpets?" or similar blablabla. It had to be in the late 70's, because I was still in high school. I rolled my eyes, but it did kind of send a chill through me. It was one of those moments when you wonder if they're right, this time!

  In respect to headcovering, can you get away with a sheet of toilet paper??

  whose idea was it anywhere and is there any mention of it in any awake or bodgetower?.

  the idea, that women when taking the lead in anyway or praying should have something on their head as a sign of respect suddenly struck me as a sign of total disrespect!.

  i understand a woman may put anything on her head as a sign of respect to her superior male colleagues, including a used kleenex....i've seen it so don't doubt it!!.

  My Mom always carried a linen handkerchief in her purse. It was neatly folded and had small embroidered flowers on one corner.

  Mary, do the women have to remain seated so the post-it note doesn't sail off their hair? Haha.

  Funny story, Crumpet. What's a tea towel, is it what we Yanks call a kitchen towel?

  When I was in school, I missed alot of meetings because I had "Caught that bug that's been going around." When mom stayed home with me, I don't think she minded missing either. And sometimes I really was sick with a virus, from being out late and tired and run down. Those meetings on school nights were brutal on a kid!

  I was driving to work when the announcement came on the radio. I thought it was one of those radio talk show jokes, until I got to work and everyone was gathered in groups, all shocked.

  what things do you believe the fds is well aware of but refuses to disclose to its followers because it is not in its interests to do so, and why?

  i give one example: abraham, isaac and jacob did not look forward to an earthly but a heavenly life, according to paul at hebrews 11: 13-16 .

  That they are just a bunch of musty old men, there is no spirit direction, and they vote on things and argue, like any businessmen at a board meeting. They sugar coat their discrimination against women, with those loving explanations about Jehoopla's headship arrangement, bla-bla.

  They do their best finagling when another prediction fails. They spin it all shiny and silky, and explain how, really, this was Jehoopla's purpose all along. Or, they just smile and pretend nothing ever happened.

  Are people still becoming JWs in the West?

  given the exposure that the wts receives on the internet or in books and the fact that the public in general must have realised by now that the jws are a double faced organisation that does not deliver what it promises, do you know of any total outsiders, ie those that did not grow up as jws, that are now moving into this org?

  to us who have been there and seen it all this seems very odd, but no doubt many of these new dubs will in the future move out in the midst of a lot of turbulance.

  Well, when I left in the 80's, which I know isn't recent, they were clamoring to work the "projects" which were predominently black. If this sounds racist, it's because they were racist. The brothers said, the blacks were a fertile field because they would believe anything you tell them! I imagine the same attitudes exist today, with Hispanics being deemed the gullible, easily won over people` Nowadays, blacks, being as smart as anybody else, have figured the Dubs out. Now they prey upon Hispanics and Asians, it appears.

  ok - this thread about wt and their money got me thinking.... http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/116971/1.ashx ...for all those here that still attend meetings.. go to your "literature servant" at the next meeting and request a couple new bibles, wt cd's, songbooks, or double your magazine order, etc.

  just make sure you forget to donate.. lets keep those wt printers busy!!!

  Did anyone really buy into the "Universal Sovereignty" issue?

  i am new to the forum, but not new to jw indoctrination.

  even as a child, i would ask myself, "why would the almighty creator need to prove anything to anyone, including him/her/itself?

  really, one of the few scriptures that i do actually agree with is that 'god is love.
