I remember vaguely a "Trumbo" in the Chicagoland area. Wasn't his first mane Ray? It's been years ago...

Kingdom Ministry School
by Outaservice inmany years ago, i attended kingdom ministry school for two weeks in chicago, illinois.
our instructor was a man i quite liked named dennis trumbore (sp ?).
he seemed quite reasonable and kind in his teaching.. i later understand he ran into a 'snag' with the society for some interpretation of scripture (in ezekiel, i think) that differed with the official watchtower views.

How did your family react to your decision over time?
by mavie ini'm still somewhat hopeful my family will one day 'see the light'.
in your experience, did any of your family members finally understand your reason for leaving and communicate with you as a family member and not an apostate?.

Mavie, I faded away years ago. I'm an only child, so it must've been a huge disappointment to my parents. At first, they tried to give me "care packages' with Asleep and Witchtower tucked inside, but I asked them to stop. They did, and have never shunned me. We do avoid some topics, but talk regularly. I'm very
luckyfortunate! Please tell us more of your story!I also see that you have a nice, neatly trimmed beard. They must be horrified, tee-hee!

My Grandma got a Christmas Present from the DUB's
by Wordly Andre inevery christmas day my cousins and i go over and have christmas breakfast with grandma, this year we lost one of our cousins, (she went back to meetings) so anyway while we were over talking to grandma, i noticed a book on her table, it was the my book of bible stories (soft cover, what ever happend to the yellow book??
) anyway i asked my grandma "where the heck did you get that??
" she said "your aunt dropped it off along with another book, i guess she wanted us to know whats wrong with celebrating christmas, so they gave it to me as a christmas present!

My Mom used to take Asleep and Witchtower articles about holidays, birthdays, etc to her elderly Aunt, too. Right before her birthday, she'd drop off an article like, "Why true Christians don't celebrate birthdays" or similar, I don't remember the exact titles. It used to make the Aunt pretty mad. Why not just leave elderly relatives alone? They're happy in their beliefs, and don't want to change them in their old age. I think it's rude and disrespectful to dump this bird poo on them, and especially the timing of it!

Sounds like he is using you, and you could do better. Who needs it? After he buys all his sh*t with your money, he may leave, and what'll you have but an empty checkbook?

Yes, LittleBoPeep, wishing someone a happy New Year is a terrible thing to do, isn't it? Jeez, how silly they are!
Happy New Year to everyone!

Interesting visit from broken down JW and CO
by hambeak inyesterday pm while on gabbly two jw's came into my shop (former customers) with an overheating problem.. they saw my other copy of coc.
i asked what can we do for you?
they both were staring at the book, i noticed the car was spewing steam and coolant.

Hambeak, you did excellent! Once again, an example of how the JW's blast the Clergy for expecting special perks and treatment, yet see nothing wrong with a CO demanding this!
Too bad ya didn't put the monkey wrench in the engine! I know, you have a professional reputation to think of....well, how about if they ever come back wheedling favors, you slip that COC book in the glove box! Haha, can't ya just see Brother OldNmusty's dentures fall out when he opens the glove compartment for Scurrytory maps and there lies THAT AWFUL BOOK?

Haha, you bet we did. Even the Post Offices closed for the day today. After they told all the employees to stay home, because work was closed, they changed their minds about 10 A.M. and tried to call people in. Very few answered their phones.

Question for Singles: Tired of hearing the "F" word?
by Elsewhere ini'm very much a home-body, so i don't go out much and meet a lot of people.
in recent months i've been trying to reverse that and meet more people.. so far the pattern is this:.
meet someone.start chatting and talking.notice a distinct chemistry.attempt to move things to the next level.now this is where things get frustrating.

Elsewhere, I told my husband I just wanted to be friends, too. We took a six month training at work, in a group which involved staying in residence hotel sometimes. Often, the group shared dinner together. After the course ended, hubby mentioned that there was no reason we couldn't still have dinner together sometimes, just as friends. I agreed to still have a meal with him, if it was understood we weren't dating. I told him I wasn't looking for anything more. He agreed and said he wasn't, either.
3 months later, he asked me to get married. I said, nah...thanks, but no thanks. I had a good job, and my own home. Didn't need to get married.
He asked me again, same answer...
Third time, I realized I didn't NEED to get married, but I WANTED to!
We celebrated our 6-year anniversary recently.
It's not the end of it all, if she wants to be just friends. That's a nice way to start it, easy, no pressure. Relaxed and growing on each other, or maybe not. Don't stress over the "F" word. Look at hubby and me, he didn't give up, and I'm glad he didn't push it.
