This week's "Give Us Your Money" meeting item.
by freddo inif you went to it, (or go later this week) how was it handled?
just the video or some commentary too?.
i have heard of a few negative comments from some that attended - one jw even openly said to me "not very encouraging, all they go on about is money lately" and another (a serving elder, no less) said "someone's got to pay for all those lawsuits".

THIS Is How JWs Feel About The Cut In Magazines And Content
by pale.emperor ini asked the question on quora "how do jehovah's witnesses feel about the announcement that the public edition of the watchtower and awake!
magazine is being reduced to just 3 issues a year and the number of books, tracts, and online content are being discontinued?".

Didn't they say reading the magazines was the equivalent of a college education, or something like that? Where will they get their superior education now?

Also in Colorado Springs, the Cheyenne Mountain zoo is literally on the mountain side, near Seven Falls. Once time, a bear came running through from the woods when I was there as a tourist. It has good views and an aerial tram ride. If you're near Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs is nearby. It's walkable, tourist and art shops and cafes. There are natural spring fountains too.
That's where you'd park and take the tram ride to the top of Pikes Peak. There's a snack and souvenir shop when you get out. It can be very cold at the summit and has already snowed, so bring a jacket!

Yes! To the point i was physically sick from dreading meetings from around 7 or 8 years old. When I walked inside the Hall, I just felt bad vibes, something was off. It actually nauseated me and I developed anxiety problems.
From listening to my dad rehash elders meetings, i knew there were a lot of hypocrites. That was a huge turn off to me. I couldn't understand why they didn't quit going.
Then there was a strange old man who regularly left bags of candy in our unlocked car for me. He placed them on the back seat where he knew I sat. My parents didn't see anything wrong with it but he smiled at me in a creepy way and made me uncomfortable. He was in his seventies and I was thirteen. They finally said something to him, but it was more along the lines of, she has braces now, so she really shouldn't eat so much candy. They didn't want to offend a nice old brother. ðŸ˜
I had to do my homework on the way to the meetings and rarely finished it. All those nice summer evenings, spent inside that eerie building.
A building full of odd vibes, odd people and some smart, professional people who seemed to drift off. It took being sick to miss meetings, so I was sick quite a lot.

Last nights CLAM meeting
by dbq407 inso hadn't been to a clam meeting in quite a few months, but went last night.
so we learned that gog of magog is not satan as previously believed.
they used a few scriptures that made it clear that it couldn't be satan and that it would be a coalition of nations.

"They used a few scriptures that made it clear it couldn't be Satan..."
They had the same scriptures when they said it WAS.

I'm so sorry your mother kicked you when you were down. Mine gets meaner all the time too. Examples: I don't know what's wrong with you, maybe I dropped you on your head when you were a baby, you need to get right with Jehovah, that's why he doesn't listen to your prayers. My husband has an episodic mental disorder and she doesn't acknowledge it as a bona fide chemical imbalance in the brain. She told me, if you stay with him, you deserve everything you get!
Other than that, it's garden variety b.s. like she's going out in service today, she's leaving for the meeting now, this month's video was so, so encouraging. Soon now, we won't be living under these conditions. Bla bla, so irritating and just a way really to nag about what we should be doing (in their opinion.) They have no normal compassion for others, even family, if we don't go to the meetings. Jesus never said that was a requirement for loving our fellow man.

WT about elder positions
by Gorbatchov inyesterday, visited the hall for family reasons.. wt was about elder positions, educate younger brothers, delegate your work etc.
the usual story about the body of elders, give younger people a change and don't get atached to your position.
what was evident: 90 percent of the answers came from the sisters.. the elders looked like the house cat just eaten tweety.. never heared so much theory and knowing it will be fully ignored.. why make it a 45 minute issue for every tom, dick and harry?.

How lame, where is the actual worship of the Lord? I always l left the meetings spitting nails. Why did I have to get all dressed up in skirt and hose, going out in the cold to hear this?

At what point were you taught about disfellowshipping? What page in the current study book is it covered?
by jambon1 ineven thinking about born-ins here.
at what stage of your 'bible teaching' were you taught about the practice of disfellowshipping?.
reading john cedars book and the section about when the more crazy shit gets introduced to you is very telling.

It was when I was a child and my mom and I were in the grocery store. I spotted my auntie in another aisle and started towards her excitedly. My mom grabbed my arm and yanked me in another direction. She said we don't talk to Aunt C now because she's disfellowshipped. I wasn't sure what that meant and was disappointed and confused. She was my favorite aunt.
Sadly, this same aunt returned to the cult and shuns me now for fading.

Another family needlessly torn apart
by Visitor1984 ini'm feeling very angry tonight as i watched my mother in law end her relationship with my husband, her son, tonight.
we were happily inactive, enjoying a distant but decent relationship with my in laws until they saw some christmas decorations and everything changed.
i spent two hours getting drilled on whether my husband and i celebrate holidays, to be told that my laws won't socialize with us anymore.
