I do believe this book still sits in our KH library.

When Did Dr. Alexander Hislops Become A Pariah to the Watchtower Society?
by ÁrbolesdeArabia ini am going to be speaking to the 45-55 years old plus generation here.
i bought my first copy around 1980, it was the thing to do because it proved most of christendom's believes came from nimrod, and by the end of the 1980s the book and the name faded away into oblivion.. .
the watchtower use to print that book or distribute it, am i correct or has my memory gotten bad?

New Trend in Dramas?
by breakfast of champions inso it used to be that all dramas were ot.
period, that was it.. then they started incorporating a "modern day" application of the ot drama where actors in the present day reflected on the story.. then they started using some highly fictionalized nt characters in dramas (never jesus of course).
in the past few years we've been getting more "modern dramas", just about people in the present dealing with their "problems".

And if they are all perfect in that future paradise, just like Adam and Eve were in the original Eden, shouldn't all the characters in that drama have been completely naked?
Now that might be a drama worth seeing...

"true christians"
by fakesmile ini have seen so many references to "true cristians".
it is kind of an annoyance.
the comment usually starts with, "well true christians" or something seperating one class of cheistian against a "not tru christian".. see the thing is that the "true christians" have to claim the "not true christians" because they all study the same book.

"true christians" = all christians who believe the same thing the person using the phrase believes.

In the past they have taught that those resurrected would be neither female or male.
Nothing I've ever heard. When was this?

The antidote to the myth that JWs are declining
by slimboyfat inone of the most persistent myths on this website is that jws are already in decline, the rot has set in, and the descent of the watchtower is inevitable from here on in.
unfortunately the facts do not bear this out.
jws are still increasing even in most developing countries, and they are still growing worldwide at a faster rate than the general population.

Don't they also pick the month out of the year with most field reports handed in, as basis for their count? Hardly a good measure. It should be the average count when all 12 months are used.
Both are given in the detailed chart. Not a grand difference, but some. For example, in the 2013 Yearbook (2012's figures) you had: 7,782,346 PEAK publishers (which is the number they use for the summary). However, the AVERAGE was: 7,538,994 - a difference of 243,352.

The decline and fall of the Watchtower empire..........
by Terry incharisma can work wonders.. it can be both entertaining or maddening to large crowds of eager listeners.. whole populations can be swayed by a silver tongue or mad ranting poison-sac attached to a man leading a movement.. .
the history of the watchtower society proves this.. leadership is tricky and movements are volatile.
those who made you can undo you too.. .

In re: Witnesses not knowing their doctrine.
The GB are not dumb. They have noticed this.
At the CO/DO visit just passed, our D.O. mentioned this in his closing talk, urging parents to equip their children to defend and explain the doctrines.
The irony being that I suspect half of the parents don't really fully understand them.

See, the thing is, any large growth tends to come from 3rd world places. Desperate people grasping at the (false) hope that paradise, which is coming Soon™, will solve all their problems.
The apathy and bleed-off of the born-ins, along with the gradual death of all the old-timers, is happening in large part in first-world countries (USA, Europe, etc.).
The problem becomes economic. If support from the rich countries dries up, they can't fund their massive printing operation. Boom. Collapse.
They seem to be trying to solve this but putting stuff online. Problem is, folks in grass and mud huts with chickens running in the yard don't have internet and likely never will.

the father turning on the TV to see that the government is "cracking down" on jehovahs witnesses in our "free" country -
To see the governments turn on all organized religious businesses is one JW "prophecy" I would not mind, even if it meant Jar-Hoover was about to wipe me out. I'd slaughter as many dubs as possible just to spit in his almighty eye.

Yea, that's how cults work. One of the "tricks of the trade" - If you ask questions to lead the person to the conclusion you want, they feel like they are the ones who came to the conclusion. That makes it stick much more powerfully. "No, no one TOLD me to believe this. I looked at the evidence and concluded it for myself."
