I agree with Scully and ex-nj. I'm not saying that its bad for you, but I work 45-50 hours a week and right now I have a sick roommate and a boyfriend that I have to deal with. Good luck with your bombardment, lol.

Someone please inform me as to why I have not gotten enthusiastic response
by Shawn10538 in... from you jwd members, to my idea to bombard bethel with phone calls.
it seems to me to be a very effective way to protest and i have had great experiences with it.
i just can't understand the lackluster response from you all.

To believe or not believe...
by changeling inthat seems to be the question around here lately.. people's panties have been getting into quite a twist over this one.. personally, i don't believe.
but i'd like to put that aside and focus on something else.. i'd like to focus on: now what?.
what can we individually and collectively do to make this planet a better place to live?

I recycle and I'm not sure if we use the curly lightbulbs, but I think just smiling helps people through the day too. A smile goes a long way.

I received a package from my mother today
by ex-nj-jw inmy dub mother sent me a package today, inside was a nwt bible, a picture of me around age 5 at an assembly - i looked miserable and my dad was holding a battery operated fan in front of me, and a letter, here is the letter.
i ask that you remember that i was 18 when i left and i'm now 42, that there is a total of 8 children in my family and there are only 2 that are still jw's, oh and that my mother is a complete nutcase!
dear nj:.

(((hugs))) I know how you feel. My mother once told me (before I got reinstated) that if she knew how I was going to turn out tha she wish she would've never had me. When your mother said how could she have given birth to someone so awful it made me think of what my mom had said to me. Don't let her get to you, just laugh it off. You know the "truth" and that's all that matters!

Not allowed to sleep over - is that weird?
by collegegirl21 inokay, so my guy and i have been together for 10 months and we usually are ok together.
but there is something that has been getting to me and i think its unusual, but please correct me if i'm wrong - he won't let me sleep over at his house.
and he hardly ever stays at my house, he's maybe stayed here 3 times in our whole relationship.

I don't know where to begin with letting go. What if I'm not strong enough? I don't feel strong enough and I definitely feel like I am co-dependent.
Cog - I have been looking at the questions you gave me. I made little sticky notes with them around my desk here at work so I can think about them while I'm here. I hope it helps!

He has an EX-wife. The divorced was finalized and her and I have met for his sons' sake. A part of me knows that I need to let go, I just don't know if I'm ready yet. He has helped me with a lot of stuff through my parents and my dad even met him (first boyfriend who wasn't a JW that he met and actually liked). I just need time to mentally detach myself from the person that I've been so attached to for so long. I need other things to preoccupy my time in order to get over this issue.

How ridiculous it is that you aren't able to just sit and relax with your sister in law - who is practically your sister because of the mentality of the witnesses. I think that's ridiculous!!!!! I'm sorry you were forced to sit on the toilet without reading material for 20 mins! Lol.

Sassy - I know he lives there because I've been inside and hung out there and stayed over super late and come over early when he's had softball games we've gone together. I've just never slept over there.
Other than that aspect of our relationship things are pretty good. He just tries to find excuses for me not to be able to spend the night and I'm not sure why he is looking for excuses. After talking with him for a little bit today, I think he is just afraid of being close to me because of his failed marriage and his past fialed relationships. What I want to address with him is letting him know that if he gets help that I won't go anywhere and that he needs to stop making me feel bad about myself because I don't need that in my life especially right now.
Do I want to be with him? Yeah, he's good to me in every other way except this one. He only says the mean things when I bring up the spending the night, I just need to learn how to either a) talk to him in a way that doesn't make him mad or b) get over the fact that he doesn't want me spending the night.
I don't think its right for me to give him an ultimadum, but I am starting to think that's what I should do because its not fair to me. That's the type of affection that I want and I've compromised this whole time, shouldn't he compromise a little too? Or am I blowing out of proportion the whole spending the night thing?

Who in their right mind wants to become a JW?
by JH inmy neighbour across the street went to his 1st jw meeting yesterday.
he also went to the memorial last april.
he didn't go since.. coming back from his 1st meeting, he told me that he told the elders, that he will never wear a tie, and that he will never go out inthe field service, and that he wont go back to their meetings anymore because their meeting is right inthe middle of the afternoon on sundays....1pm to 3pm.

I think people that need to cling to something for hope or for whatever reason might want to join. The WTS packages their deal pretty nicely to someone who is going through issues and they will probably prey on that to lure them in.
