Hey OpenFireGlass, I LOVE that picture. I posted on the 80's thread that I would have wanted to share your songbook.

Share your most embarassing moments
by DigitalFokus inyou have to be able to laugh at yourself sometimes.... here is one of my most embarassing moments.. i was in 7th grade and also the new kid in school.
this happened during one of our first big test's, i think it was my english glass but i am not sure.. i had bad gas for some reason that day and had been holding it in instead of "dusting the crops" in the hallways (which is a great way to shed your gas without having to claim it).
i am sitting in class trying to concentrate on the test while holding in my deadly gas with all the strength my buttcheeks could muster.

Just listening to that guy talk and watching the expressions on his face gave me the creeps....that was John Q Witness at his best. It's like they clone these guys. My skin is kinda crawling right now.

"Deliverance at Hand" District Convention Invitation
by Elsewhere intruthsetsonefree has provided spiritual food at the proper time by emailing me these scans.... this is the little hand-bill invitation for the next district convention that we've been hearing about.
considering the fact that most jws never actually read such things before handing them out, i suspect that many people will be given these things but never actually told when and where the convention will be held!
on the back it says: "the local congregation of jehovahs witnesses invites you to attend the convention that will be held at the time and location shown here.

Just LOOK at the majestic stag on the mountain side. Does it not make your heart leap, brothers?
LDH, you're killing me over here. That made me breathe some trail mix down my windpipe. Note to self, do not eat or drink while reading posts on JWD.

I remember our CO and wife staying in their RV in the parking lot of the KH. And she would be "sick" and stay in the RV, but you could see the TV flashing through the camper mini-blinds. We all knew it was really because she didn't want to miss Falcon Crest.

What happened in the 80's?
by Virgochik invarious posters have mentioned how get-togethers and fun times socializing were frowned upon and discouraged somewhere around the early 80's.
everything changed, as far as the picnics, the dinner parties, etc.
i vaguely recall some connection being made to parties and increased "immorality.

Best, worst and weirdest assembly halls...
by Jamelle ina recent thread about the experience of attending the 1969 convention as a young child really started me thinking.
i have several fuzzy memories of assemblies i attended as very young child.
this got me onto the track of the rather odd, uncomfortable or even really cool buildings i have visited over the years as a result of those conventions.. so my questions to everyone are:.

I think the worst convention was as a child at Candlestick Park in SF. It was freezing in the morning and boiling in the afternoon.
We went to visit family in CA one year and went the the DA at Candlestick....I remember ladies wearing fur coats because it was cold yet they were sitting under umbrellas so they wouldn't get sunburned. Also, I remember some of the men's rooms being converted to women's restrooms and they had these trough like urinals. I was just a little girl and it really grossed me out.

Congratulations on your last day. Hope you have a great night celebrating. I think there aren't many cozier gathering spots than an English pub.
Where in the UK are you?
