I'm glad you are happy and found the loving, true God! Nancy
well, i just wrote another one of many letters to my sister and father who are still jw's and who have refused any contact with me as any 'good jw' does.
i have seen other's letters from others and i have enjoyed them.
so, for curiosity sake, i am submitting my letter for others to read.

if the government had this policy .... given that 100% of the terrorist who did 9/11 were arab, and most terrorist are arab.
we as a government will racially profile the arab population and visitors to our country.
spending more time inspecting them, checking them out, and making sure that they are singled out and watched more then any other race.. would this offend you?.
Gee, dvw, you said what I was thinking but was too hesitant to say. Terrorists can come in different colors, but I think tighter scrutiny for those who fit the profile is the quite logical response.
i am so angry right now.
my father worked his butt off for years at his job and for the wbts.. in the 60's he was a painter and use to bathe in benzine to clean him self off.
this was before anyone new this was a cancer causing chemical.. he worked for years at assemblys, and as an elder etc.. he realized the foolishness of 1975 and started saving big time leaving my mother a nice savings account plus a huge retirement fund.. he developed kidney cancer at age 60 due to the benzine and survived.
Dear R, I am so sorry you lost your dad. And your mom will never see the injustice of it.
That's a HUGE gift, when you think about how hard he had to work to get save that kind of money.
There's nothing I can say that can make you feel any better--just know you have every right to be angry, and I'm shaking my head in disgust, too.

continuing saga of my elderly parents:.
mom has a broken shoulder (now 8 wks!
) and still can't use it at all.
At least I could get up, move around, burp, even drink, or play on the computer during a talk!

Continuing saga of my elderly parents:
Mom has a broken shoulder (now 8 wks!) and still can't use it at all. Recall that she fell out of the back door going to meeting one Sunday, was pulled to her feet, went on to meeting and sat for 2 hours with her arm dangling uselessly. Hmmm............no one, including my dad, noticed?!?!?
So with my dad's cancer, my 86 year old parents are nearly 'shut-in'. And the friends from the hall have been great about calling, bringing meals, etc. Now they've brought my parents a speaker phone, and they listen to meetings from home. They love it. I mean, they absolutely think it's the greatest thing ever!!!
Now I just have to remember when NOT to go over! I stay all night about every 3rd night to help out, so I'll go late on Tuesday and Thursday and not stay over on Saturday night.... I just don't think I could stand it.
during the boring written review, did you really prepare and look up the answers beforehand, or did you just write anything down or did you copy the superdub sitting next to you?
personally i just wrote any old thing down and ticked it as right when they read out the answers.
however when i was growing up i had to get loads right or i would face questions from my mum!
My mom says they do an oral review now instead of written.
Ah, written review! My official elder's kid job in our tiny congregation was to put a clipboard (homemade by my woodworking uncle) on every chair before meeting. Then anyone who needed a copy of the 'test' would raise their hand, and I would scurry to get them one. Then pick up the boards afterwards. Now for a GIRL who never got to pass a microphone, doing SOMETHING was better than doing nothing, so I got a rush out of it. Boy, that sounds pathetic. My dad would also give me his watch to hold, and I would elbow him when time was 'up'.
Yes, I cheated. I'd go through it first and answer what I could, then peek at the surrounding folks' papers. My dad would hold his so I could see it clearly on purpose.
Have I mentioned lately that my dad was one of the 'good guys'? He still is, of course, but at least he is 'retired' from being an elder.
i wondered how many abandoned going to any kind of church.
or, if there are some who go to a church now.
was it weird at first to go?
For years I didn't think I needed any religion. Then I had a baby. And I felt like She needed a community.
I followed a dear friend and her family to church--I liked what I saw in their family. They prayed informal, newsy prayers to a God who was as real and concerned and kind as their own earthly fathers. Their children didn't dread church. They knew all the bible stories and the lesson to be learned from it. They prayed as a couple to keep their priorities straight.
Still my best friends. We all attend the local Methodist Church. Also a place full of imperfect people, but a place where it's okay to disagree.
i guess i'm gabby mouth tonight .
my brothers are both elders, i'll call them brother a and brother b. brother a disowned my mother since our dad passed away, because he's mad at things that happened when we were kids.
apparently it's easier to take it out on mom now because brother a couldn't stand up to dad - but that's another story.. it's a while since dad passed and brother a refuses to return her emails, phone calls, help her in any way.
Really good job!!!! Fantastic!!! So IF brother B had sent that email and said exactly the same things, he wouldn't be offended? I guess you could offer to explain your family issues in front of a judicial committee, concerning the matter of whether he is qualified to serve. Depends on how catty you are, I guess. But my guess is you've stirred the pot enough for now.
How wonderful that you are taking a trip with your mother! I'm guessing Hawaii? Have a wonderful time and take lots of pictures!
In my family, my brother (dissassociated) lives far away but is very helpful with my parents (money, phone calls, little gifts, visits every 2 months, fixes drippy faucets, etc) My sister (in good standing), however, lives about 1 1/2 hr away. Says she's coming almost weekly, but something comes up. She's been to see them twice in the past year. And then she wants money. Sits around, acting like a guest. Suspected klepto.
Me? I live 7 miles away. I take them to every Dr. appt., give mom her shower 3 times a week, dress her, do their laundry, clean house, mow, manage their mail order prescriptions, program the remote control, call the exterminator......
Mom broke her shoulder 8 weeks ago, Let's just say it's been a LONG 8 weeks.
Tell Brother A to get his A** over there and clean that toilet, bag up and burn all the trash, clean out her garage for winter, and check the furnace filters. (Men seem to NEED a list). Then when he's done, he needs to take his momma out to supper. MONTHLY.
Just my suggestions, from another martyrred caregiving daughter...
can you imagine a jw conference with speakers and subjects like this one?

Won't happen--there's a woman at the podium!!!!!
i went to a flea market yesterday and found a pamphlet that someone had left.
it's a very homemade one--like it's a bunch of clippings pasted to a piece of paper (with some handwritten comments scattered throughout), then copied.
it says "news and views in the world of the cults" .
AND the websites listed are not all valid or current, AND whoever wrote this doesn't use the internet, as the dot.coms and HTMLs aren't consistant.
On the bright side, check out www.chick.com So that's where those other pamphlets come from!!!!
