I can see some pro's, but they aren't exclusive to witnesses. Sure, I can speak in public. I can adapt to my audience. I can read aloud REALLY well...but my morals and values were from my parents. They were real. I saw other families in the congregation with totally different experiences.
My biggest negative was feeling 'different' from 'the world'. I didn't fit in, and still don't... Not even after 25 years.

when i read of something like this, it makes me all the more careful as a parent and never assume anything when it comes to your young children.
So awful! I'm an ER nurse, and took care of a toddler who was hit by her mommy in a similar 'blind spot' tragedy. Absolutely heartbreaking--one of my worst experiences in my 24 years there...
As an aside, 40 years ago one of the sisters in our congregation backed over a little boy while out in service and killed him. My only recall of the incident that I was dropped off abruptly at a cousin's for a LONG time while Mom stayed with her. Mom says she(the driver) was never the same.

in many parts of the world when a male or female reaches puberty they are considered potential mates.
this is especially true in the culture of many countries in south america as well as the more rural areas of the us.
this is not what i am concerned about.
I'm with you, Gregor. And Sammieswife bring up good points about the worldwide sex trade issues, but what can we do? I'm thinking that as individuals, we can support local groups like 'Child Sexual Abuse Taskforce' (a local group that encourages education, treatment, protection and support for children at risk). We can pay attention at election time and push for stricter laws and longer sentences. We can be proactive about educating our own children and grandchildren. But it's hard to know how to make a difference past our own immediate arm's length. And then we can't always keep our kids safe.

I'm so sorry you are going through this! I, too, have a feline family member with cancer. Spunky has a mass in her jaw, and I am trying to decide when to put her down. She's lasted much longer than the vet predicted.
It's hard to judge what their quality of life is, isn't it? Are they hurting? Are they short of breath? Do they enjoy eating and purring and watching birds and teasing the dog? What if I wait too long and she suffers needlessly because I'm selfish?
I's so glad for you that your vet will come to your house. That will be one less stress on the cat, and more privacy for you folks. All my sympathies...
