And viola - Here you are!
Been a tough couple of years for me but I'm still standing.

Yikes!! Sorry to hear about the spill. How terrifying. I had a bad bike accident when I was in my 20's and had trouble getting anyone to stop and help me. Can't imagine laying in the snow and being over 50~!!

There are special grips you can side over your shoes for better grip on snow.
You can get Ice Grips for your cane, too. Here is one site: http://www.cwimedical.com/Product/homecarecaregiver/3149
Or, google these three words: cane ice grip for reviews and choices.
Separately, Do you have a service like "Helping Hands" near you?? It might be something to look into for a little care and assistance.
Feel better soon!

jehovah's witness elders lie and call police.
on october 31, 2010 jehovah's witnesses elders lie when asked by charles huff, also a jehovah's witness, if they shun ex-members of the jehovah's witnesses' religion.
Sorry, but I sort of want to shun the guy, too. Waaay too confrontational. Rude and finger wagging.
He really is a turn-off. I may say 'hi' I passed him on the street, but, otherwise, I'd keep my distance. And if he was verbally accosting people who were leaving my home, I'd likely call the police as well.

there could be such chapters as.
1 how to raise children in the "truth" without a husband.. 2 how to not feel hurt when your husband ignores you during the meetings and talks to everyone else.. 3 how to handle your husband rushing with anther elder off to be with some poor depressed sister or family night after night when you are depressed yourself.. 4 what to do with yourself when you husband has talks out and he is busy gabbing with the other elders and you are standing alone watching the sisters stare but never coming over to talk to you as you stand there stupidly.. 5 how to handle the rude phone calls of members of the hall demanding your husband come over right now!.
6 how to explain to your children why their father is helping other families and has no time to spend with them.. 7 how to explain to your children that a quick build is more important than they are.. 8 how to explain to neighbors and coworkers why your husband is always busy with the congregation and can never help you around the house.. my husband and i were talking the other day and he brought up again that the wives of elders should consider the cost of marring an elder.. i never knew before we were married what it was truly like.
That's funny - because it's so true~!!
And the sitting in the cold car with kids until 11:00pm on a school night? Seriously. What's up with that??? Take two cars seems like a reasonable solution. Right? WRONG. We are a family so we ride together. And it wastes gas. So the 3 school-aged kids can bundle up and bring their homework to the hall to do while dad is in yet another meeting. Bring gloves because it's too hard to write your report while wearing mittens. The baby is hungry and cold and tired so mommy will have to try to keep baby from crying so not able to help the older kids with their homework.
Hitch a ride home with someone else? Nope. There's not enough room in the car for everyone. Besides, the meeting should only be ten, fifteen, 30 minutes, an hour at most. Well, it won't be too long. Besides it's important. More important than the elder's kids, and certainly more important than their sleep and education. Get home by midnight and the kids can still have 5 hours to sleep before that test Friday morning. They can catch up on sleep over the weekend. Ummm. No that won't work because we have service Saturday morning. Sunday. No. Meeting for service at our house so everyone up early to clean the house and prep for Sunday Field Service. Oh well. Get over it. Quit your bitching and be a good example to the cong.
I remember those cold and lonely nights. Many times we hadn't even eaten dinner so were hungry to boot.
And this was probably just a spelling error, but could also be a freudian slip:
the wives of elders should consider the cost of marring an elder.

just about everyone in the hall my husband attends is deleting their facebook account.
he just cam back from a ms meeting.
what's the deal?.
My staunch JW sister has a facebook account but has ignored my 4 friend invites over the past 2 years.
She has just 13 friends (mostly our non-jw relatives) and a few of her JW friends that she's known for years.
I think she joined just to soften up to the non-jw relatives so they and her workmates don't think she is in a cult.
She is middle-aged and thinks it's cool to not post on social networking sites.

do any of you remeber any talks that were creepy in nature.for example i remember a talk where a brother said "when the end comes your friends and family will be against you" now if that is not crazy i don't know what is.i remember alot of talks regarding bible prophecy and the end times.all of this did not help reinforce the sense of fear since it was 2007-2008 and the united states was going through a recession.this just proved to be fuel for their talks.give good experiences of any talks that you have had that proved to be either weird or very creepy..
Two popular 'Out Talks' that my dad used to give were already mentioned in this thread: 'A Godly View of Sex and Marriage' and 'Deliver Us From the Wicked One'.
Deliver Us from the Wicked One was about demons. I almost always went with him when he gave that talk. The other one... Not so much.
I wish I could remember the subject of the talk at the last regular meeting I attended. The talk that I got up and walked out of. I'm not sure if the subject matter itself was creepy of just the delivery style of the speaker. Regardless, I was creeped out and could not sit in my seat and participate anymore. I can see the speaker's face but cannot remember his name.
