she called me and wanted to know if i had plans for the memorial, i told her that i would not be going this year and the following is the conversation we had:.
jw: oh no, you can't miss the memorial, if you can't make it to the one in your hall why don't you cme to ours?.

I can't understand why they would bring this much money?
by Gary1914 ini just noticed that the bound volumes of the watchtower and awake magazines for the year 2004 are now up to $80.00 and $70.00, respectively.
the beginning bid was $8.00.
why would these bound volumes be going for so much?

I had a near complete collection from the 60's - 1992-ish. I donated them to a kingdom hall.
Still have about 5 boxes of WTS literature in my garage. Part of me wants to toss it, another part wants to just burn them. Still this other part wants to make some money thru ebay.

I've never heard of anyone being DF's for missing ANY meeting.
Although... the 'on purpose' part of your comment leads to something else.
Just missing 'on purpose' is one thing but if that person were to start talking about WHY they intentionally did not go, well... there would probably be a meeting with the elders and that person might soon be rooming with 'sickoflies'.

Danion - I don't think that the moderator was gaybashing. She is very anti-witness and actually a very kind and understanding woman. She was actually just giving a to-the-point synopsis of JW doctrine - not her personal beliefs. Since you came to a JW site - apparently thinking that there would be JWs here - she let you know what you could expect if you actually found an active witness.
She locked the thread but didn't want to leave you without the information you were looking for (ie: what do JWs believe about homosexuality?).

'Tis the Season...
I haven't been to a meeting in years so can't tell you df stats from there but there are a few jc meetings that are being reported here. It might just feel like more to me because those are threads that I follow.
Regarding the newbie increase, every few months the seems to be an abundance.
