  Agreeing to "swing" with some other couples while I was still married. Um, yeah, like that works. I was rebelling from having left the "truth" so it was like dating on fast forward. I don't regret it so much as wish I had done it for other reasons.

  Hi Kitten Whiskers,

  I've been out for about 5 years now and it's WONDERFUL!

  I'm no longer that negative, judgemental person I used to be. I can look at Christmas lights and think "how pretty" and I can plan a birthday party for my kids and enjoy their delight without feeling like we're all going to be cast out for it. My kids don't have to go to school and be the odd kooks who "can't do anything". My daughter is a cheerleader and plays guitar with her friends. Her life is interesting, full and she has self esteem and confidence. As a witness teenager, I didn't have that. I had to constantly tell myself I was happy being "different".

  Life has ups and downs of course, but there was such a weight lifted off of me when I finally made the decision to leave.

  You will go through grief, sadness at times and then you start finding that there's a world of beliefs and theories that you were never allowed to explore before and will now help you heal and become more whole. Keep reading, reaching out to those who have been there and enjoy every day with your children. It's a gift you deserve to enjoy.

  Is a sexually promiscuous life style linked to depression or insecurity?

  i work in an environment at work that is a mix of adult ranging in age from 18-50. there are 300 plus people in the building, and that means you get a lot of soap operas happening from people sleeping with other people's girlfriends, boyfriends and even people cheating on their spouses with people they work with.

  among the bunch is a large group of people who spend a lot of time passing themselves around, and sampling many sexual partners.

  of the people who i know, i have often found that many do not seem as happy as one might think.

  I did go through a sexual freedom phase after leaving the borg and during my divorce, even sleeping with some of the people on this forum, one woman, two men, none of whom I see posting anymore. It was fun to date a bunch of people, have wild sex, but it still felt really empty. When it came down to it, it was all about me. I wanted to do things, didn't care so much who I did them with, it was about experimenting and flaunting my freedom. I'm now with someone who really loves me and there is no way I would ever dream of being single again. Love is so much more...

  i remember once, we were in the field service, and my companion was talking to the householder.

  the householder said, "we don't go to church anymore", thinking this would deceive us....lol.

  so, my jw friend told him, hey that's great !!!

  Once when I was little, my mom and I were out and at one door and a man came out and my mom started talking, but after about a sentence he yelled "take that crap and get out of here" and then he slammed the door. Well, she had this long coat on and part of it got caught in the door when he slammed it shut. I remember this look on her face of fear before she rang the doorbell again. He opened the door and she mumbled "my coat was caught" and we then scooted out of there. I remember she didn't want to go to any more doors the rest of that day.

  I was here at www.jehovahs-witness.com, reading through the posts and someone posted simpley "TURN ON CNN" and so I did. The rest of the day was spent calling friends and family on the phone, watching tv and pouring over the news sites online. I can't believe it's been 5 years already.

  i know we have some exjw's on the board that are from michigan.

  but what i'm wondering is if anyone here would remember a story that came out of the brighton, michigan area about 15 - 20 years ago.. apparently a young woman da'ed and then some time later was (if my memory serves me correctly) killed in a car accident.

  i believe her parent's da'ed soon after.

  I'm in Michigan, near Saginaw. I don't remember hearing the story about the girl from Brighton, but it sounds interesting. I left on my own, da'd after years of doubts and finally allowing myself to visit sites like this one.
