an update on my present situation with my dub friend!.

it's a bit of a pickle, to be honest.

he's a great guy, and his wife is a lovely girl, i just can't stand to break their bubble.. let me get you guys up to date with events that occurred recently twixt him & i.. we all spoke at a recent event at microsoft, and i pretty much had to coach him through all the things he would say, make sure he got it right.

Most of us came from similar situations, there are very few who make an exodus from dubdum along with other family member's. Amazing, VeniceIT, Mulan, and a few other's are unique in this senario.

Leaving this damn cult is alway's going to be a miserable process, usually a decision based solely on individual choice.

One of those times in life, where no other person or thing, can help you...........except maybe the listening ear of a friend(?).

Thinking about Bill Bowen...

i was looking over the thread... "should i support bill bowen?".

i realize i am one of the few people that gave bill somewhat of a difficult time pretty much from the beginning when it was not "fashionable" to do so.

it was never my hope to see the man reduced to what he has, but rather to gain a better understanding of the issues involved, the intents and goals of silentlambs and to see reasonableness govern everyone's actions in the whole affair.. imo, i don't think there is any other single person in the last while that has done so much to help address the issue of child abuse among jw's while at the same time exposing them for what they really are.

Even though you expressed your appreciation for Franks participation in Boer trial. Why is it, that you seem compelled to add the caviat that his testimony was less than effective?

Your demeanor here is enough to caution anyone interested in 'helping' in these cases, to give pause.

I think you are playing the same game as Grits and other's here have done..........you just couldn't resist could you?

Who know's if the friendship grows further, they may in fact turn to you for answer's to thier jw doubts. Did you ever meet a jw who did not entertain at least some (doubt)?

Timing could be the answer to your conundrum.

i've read it several times since and i hafta say: that little irritant is beginning to fester more than i care for.

the statement was something in the neighborhood of, "let's not get side-tracked with this franz / bowen fiasco and remember who our real enemy is... the watchtower society!".

Tell you what.....the outpouring of love and support displayed in these last three posts, is enough to make up for all the bitter, nasty, bickering going on elsewhere!!!

Iam a granpa myself, but havn't had much opportunity to act like one.......I seem to think you know why.

There is hope. The message guys like Frank Toth and other recent defectors from the cult are spreading, is starting to have an effect within the ranks. One of the good reason's to maintain a presence here on these discussion boards, who knows how many are 'paying attention'(?).

Some of us who have been out for many years (22 in my case) are almost forced to "keep them in your life", due to family members.

Yes it would be nice to walk away from jwdom with complete abandon, but the reality of this incidious religion's dogma, holds you captive. That is what I was refering to as regards the tentacles it spreads.

Happiness is a relative term, Iam happy, but I could be a hell of alot happier, if my daughter's and other family member's were free from Wt tyranny!!!!

Your comments relating to 'careful isolation' are so much a part of our backgrounds.It is that very careful isolation, that should awaken those still under the beguile of watchtower speak, to really take a hard look at what they are being taught.

It seems hard to imagine, to most uneducated/uninformed observer's of the WTBS and it's adhereants, that a religion that promotes so much activity, so much door to door work, such clean living, well dressed, devout members, that something as sinsister and evil is at work.

It is sinister and evil..........they just do a damn good job of hiding it all.

We were in fact victims of victims, some of us third fourth and fifth generation.

Since one of the dictionary definitions is "Something destructive or injurious in its effects", I have to qualify your good sentiments with this;

The doctines of Jehovah's Witness cause(d) injury to you, me and our entire families associated. We and those still practicing this religion, have suffered deep scars, both mentaly and physical. Some paying the full price of sacrificing thier very lives for its tenents.

Your case is well stated when reflecting on individuals within the cult. But I must say the WTBS and all it's tentacles, reaching out world wide, fits perfectly with any enemy I can imagine and despise.

Almost like a criminal who performs 'house invasions', this relgion is every day, stealing family member's, resources, inheritances, love for ones on flesh and blood. How can I not consider these acts of terror.....not eminating from an enemy?

But the spirit of personal responsibility, accepting our own complicity in the matter is good to think about.

Should I continue to support Bill Bowen?

to whom it may concern, .

i have contributed financially to the cause of silentlambs.org and have, to a smaller extent, even promoted the website.

it is difficult enough to fathom the depth of hurt heaped on humankind, but impossible for me to understand how such suffering can be compounded with injustice, as i read experiences on silentlambs.org.

For a guy who seems to want everyone to drop the issue, you do pretty damn good at keeping it alive.

May I suggest to you, that your above statement so misses the whole point. It no longer is as simplistic as answering 'who said what', the endless discussion, you claim to dispise, is now predicated on Bill Bowen's inability to accept anyone's, ANYONE'S view(s) that differ from his. And I will add a Period to that!

His demeanor throughout this whole charade, has been nothing short of fanatical, in his quest to strongarm those who do not see thing's his way. Even asserting that Jehovah God see's things his (Bill's) way.

If you or other defender's of this eccentric can excuse this sort of blatant meism, then do so freely. To expect or demand that other's drop this issue is haughty and very self centered. Who are you to dictate what we discuss or consider important?

I suggest you return to Bill's site, Iam fairly sure you will hear only what tickels your ear's there.
