  i must now apologize for all the things i said.. someone i trust has informed me of some things that have caused me to feel that without a doubt your position was the correct one.. ray franz should have supported you and not by his silence add support to the watchtower!

  ****Bill knows some interesting things about Fred Franz who was Ray Franz's nephew and Governing Body President as well as about Dan Sydlik. But he doesn't speak much about them. Perhaps sometime he will.****

  IW and bjc are so intent on getting Ray to 'say something' because they perceive him to be the key to restoring Silentlamb's (Bill Bowens) reputation.

  I believe this is so true......for anyone to lay claim to any fame for extracting anyone from the grips of jwdom, is in most respects hogwash.

  The individuals mind has to be somewhat receptive to the alternatives. Jw bosses (gb/elders) are very good at restricting this trend. Thus they harp on and on at conventions/meetings similar to the recent post revealing the talk on Listening to Strangers............I could almost hear the door hinges creaking, and soft groanings of horrid ghosts with evil intentions, while forcing myself to listen to the bullpucky.

  That is why I continue to post here. Iam pretty damn sure my oldest daughter is reading this site. So I take every opportunity to point out the historical and religious dishonesty about her inherited religion.

  I think it may be sinking in. She actually talks to me. Yipppeeeeee!

  i have often wondered whether the acceptance of the trinity doctrine in the church was an attempt of the gentile beleivers to distance themselves from the early jewish believers in the early church.

  as the gentiles became the majority there does seem to be a concerted effort on the part of these members to eradicate any trace of the jewish origins of the church.

  in fact, some of the early "church fathers" were very strong in their anti-jewish sentiments.

  The history of most religions reveal the tendancy to assimilate other cultures and traditions, with the sole intent of making their particular message more palatable to potential converts.

  What a concept eh? Why jw's can do that very thing is simply a reflection on the type of god they worship.

  Jehovah's Witness and Birthdays

  i know that jehovah's witness say only two birthday celebrations are spoken of in the bible and that neither were held by persons who worshiped jehovah.

  or were there any other celebrations that were simular to birthday celebrations?.

  inquiring minds need to know.

  Jw's can thank Judge Rutherford for this assinine interpretation of what the bible does not forbid.

  In my familes photo album there are pictures of the Bethel family having a Christmas dinner, with all the decorations.

  When the Judge stole the wtbs out from under the individuals Charles Taze had designated, he was very much aware of the almost worshipful attitude many Bible Students had for the 'Pastor'. It was his intent to eradicate all 'creature' worship from the org.

  Of course this desire stemmed from the fact that he wanted this 'worship' for himself.

  Once he convinced the Bible Students that he could 'use scripture' to back up all his assertions, the road was clear for what followed. Sheer dictatorship.

  Knorr carried on the tradition, Franz only added a sense of mystery and prophetic apocalyptic fervor, to go along with all the 'core' beliefs (guesses, surmize, outright lies) voila! we have the modern day jw's devoid of the love and compassion for their own family member's milestones.......the day of birth. And many more silly rules and policies that all had their inception because of one man's desire for power.

  you know the type... always going on about how their car got possessed by the devil because someone left a pack of cigarettes in it.

  or maybe their pots and pans started flying around the house because they bought something from a garage sale.. there are also the types who won't eat skittles because they contain an ingredient made from dried and crushed beetles... which means that they were not properly bled.. and the types who won't let their kids watch cartoons because the animals talk... like satan did with the snake.. then there are they types who are always into the latest get-rich-quick scam... or amway and trying to get everyone in the congregation to buy something.. oh, and don't get me started about the demon possessed smurfs who run around kingdom halls swearing and accosting the women with their teeny-peenies.. what's up with this!?!?

  I wonder if many Mulim's are asking this very question about their 'brethren"?

  To me it's simply a matter of genealogy.

  In my families case the whole thing started with my grandfather's/grandmother's from both sides of my parents.

  Grandfather from mother's side was a Methodist minister in South Dakota, who walked over 60 miles to here a 'Pilgrim/Colpourter' of Charles Taze Russell. He returned after hearing one talk, and told his congregation he could no longer preach the Methodist doctrine. He then went on to become a traveling rep for the wtbs.

  Grandfather on my dad's side had 10 children, now we are talking the turn of the century here, imagine what that meant. If it's tough to raise 1 or 2 today....well you get my point.

  Today there are probably close to 150 or more direct decendents from these two men, who are active 'faithful' jws, and another 25-50 or more who have abandonded the faith.

  Mix into this genealogical soup, the malfeasant gene of 'loonyness' here and there, you have a receipe for the reason why there are so many jw's who have not only inherited their religion, but all the rest of the legends, myths, false promises, LOONYNESS from their ancestors!

  I wager to guess that 50% or more of 6,000,000 jw's on earth owe their beliefs/loonyness to the simple fact that they were born into it.
