How did bible story pictures affect you?
by unique1 inedited because someone came through with the picture and i think this deserves it's own topic.. i am deathly, i mean deathly afraid of snakes.
most people don't understand or grasp the exent i am afraid of them until they see the ultimate reaction.
my husband witnessed the worst one since we have been together the other week.

The ark picture in the mbobs book had a woman on top of a mountain, with her baby clinging to her. The mother is looking all sullen as she realises that she is about to be swept away with her evil, 'deserving of death' baby. Because babies do such wicked things, dont they? CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE OF GOD PEOPLE?

MOUTHY NEEDS YOUR PRAYERS AND/OR SUPPORT
by Mary inour dear mouthy is really having a tough time right now and needs our support and/or prayers.
as some of you may know, she's already lost 3 of her children in death and the other one to the borg.
in the last couple of days, she's had to worry about her 2 year old great-granddaughter being in the hospital with an illness and yesterday, her daughter had a suspicious mole removed from her back and was told there is a lump in her breast which has to be biopsied.

Discussion with Elder....a must read story
by drew sagan infor those who don't know i've been 'inactive' for around one year.
i stopped attending meetings late last year.
all during this time i was working on my wife (known on this board as amber rose), helping her see the problems with the watchtower.

Well done Drew. You must have put a lot of thought into it. Every time I speak with JW`s (mainly my active wife), I get the same stock answers. No penetration at all. It is pointless at the moment. Well done to you on dealing with this lost sheep.

Did You Ever Find The "Truth" Was Ever " Exciting"???
by minimus inafter reading the thread by truthseeker regarding the district convention, and realizing that they were trying to tell people, especially young ones, that the "truth" is "exciting", i just had to ask you, did you ever feel that the "truth" was "exciting"?
i never ever did..

Looking back, I wouldn't call it exciting but that is because I do exciting things now. I do remember being excited about going to the conventions when I was younger but it was more to do with being out of the mindnumbing routine. Also, being on holiday at home and not going to a single meeting was just superb! Beer, films, bed - great stuff!

Strange Talks
by AgentSmith inthe thread regarding how the ms and elders keeping up the facade while knowing its all wrong made me think of something.. this happened in the ministerial service meeting.
the ms started his part on the program but it was soon evident that he was not firing on all cylinders.
his speech was monotone, slurred even.

Brother giving a talk on homosexuality. His illustration? - Trying to fit a square peg into a round hole! Totally unbelievable. Snigger, snigger from the audience.

What was the biggest thing that helped you when you were leaving?
by jambon1 infor me, the support of this site was invaluable as i had had years of couped up emotions.
always being told that if you are sporitually weak, it is your fault.
i actually swallowed it and tried to be a good jw.

For me, the support of this site was invaluable as I had had years of couped up emotions. Always being told that if you are sporitually weak, it is YOUR fault. I actually swallowed it and tried to be a good JW. The negative effect of hiding true feelings is significant. Also, building up friends and reinstating old family ties helped me to see that I was actually a decent person despite being told 'in as many words' by the WT religion that I was turning wicked and immoral.

What is your biggest problem with the JW religion?
by jambon1 inif i had to be tied down i would say disfellowshipping.
totally unnecessary and i really think it spans itself into a lot of other wt policies/mindsets.
"disagree with us and you are a dead man"
