Several mentions of 9/11 here...Funny, I still was sorta in da twoof at the time, and I woke up that day and turned on the tele and there it all was, and I didn't even think about it being the Big A...I think it may have even had the opposite effect, where this terrible thing happened but I knew that it had no connection at all to JW's or their wacked out beliefs and I couldn't even bear to go to the Kingdumb Bloody Hell and listen to them prattle on about how Close We Are To The Endâ„¢. Ugh!

by MsMcDucket inaffairscynthia rodriguez to file for divorce from yankees slugger the wife of yankees baseball star alex rodriguez will file for divorce monday, according to media reports.foto: aprodriguez and his wife have split less than three months after the birth of the couple's second daughtercynthia rodriguez, who married the new york yankees star in 2002, says the marriage is over because of the all-star third baseman's extramarital affairs, according to reports that appeared sunday on the web sites of houston television station ktrk and the miami herald.
schlagworterodriguezaffairbaseballmadonnaguydivorcethe reports come just days after alex rodriguez was linked to madonna in various media outlets and cynthia rodriguez's subsequent visit to the paris home of rocker lenny kravitz, who said she came to france to escape the media frenzy in new york and denied that anything improper had happened.

On looks alone, Madonna would be a step down. A big step down. LOL.

Borat does it again
by stillajwexelder inalpher said he was led down a winding staircase and through long corridors to the interview site in jerusalem, but only learned later that the interviewer was cohen's latest character, bruno.. cohen's other characters include rude-boy ali g and the kazakh journalist borat.. due to the sheer inanity of the questions, mr alpher and his palestinian counterpart began to suspect the interview was a scam, but it was too late to pull out as the two had signed release forms and received payment for the interview.. in answering one question, the interviewees had to explain the difference between hamas - an islamic group ruling gaza - and hummus - a chickpea paste eaten throughout the region.. http://news.uk.msn.com/article.aspx?cp-documentid=8818126.

Judging from the latest email, I'd say that not a thing you said in your last email to him is getting through at all, which leads me to believe that he is still deeply attached to the org. That "food for thought" line was especially smug. Blah.

The Strongest Argument Against British Sketch Comedy.
by Preston ini watched "the meaning of life" not too long ago because i had watched most of the other mp films and came to the scene in the film that... i dunno can't describe.
most people here in united states don't like british sketch comedy because it is a "different" kind of humor but i think this was done with the intent of confusing us.

I can't remember if it was Family Guy or The Simpsons, but one of them had a recent gag where somebody was forced to watch all the unfunny MP sketches as a form of torture or something. I said to meself "spot on and thank you for recognising that a bloody good lot of it was shite.".

and are frankly a very good advert for their religion.
"good" as in, accurate? As in, 'hello, I'm Serena Williams, and I'm a Jehovah's Witness, and my telling you this tacitly implies that it is a perfectly acceptable and tolerated thing among JW's for one of their members to devote the vast majority of their life's energies to something other than the religion itself.'--?

"Grace" and "post-modernity"
by Narkissos ini was thinking today (again, for i may well have already written something similar before) that if one word of christian theology has any chance to survive into (and, perhaps, past) the so-called "post-modern" era that would probably be "grace".. i wrote "word" rather than "concept" or "notion" because "grace" is not easily reduced to a single meaning.
in the bible the hebrew and greek words usually translated as "grace" ("undeserved kindness" in the nw overtranslation) happen to fall both sides of an unlikely semantic "border," between aesthetics ("grace" = "beauty") and ethics ("grace" = exception to, or excess over, "justice").
and in christian tradition too the idea of "grace" has been construed in a number of ways.

I find the idea of a "fresh, supra-rational 'ecstatic objectivity' possibly lying ahead" to be very appealing idea. I'll leave it at that as I don't want to embarrass myself here trying to sound intelligent...lol

How can I know for sure that the WTS isn't God's organization?
by nbernat ini go back and forth everyday.
one day i'm like, "suppress your gay feelings and what you think is wrong about this organization and keep going forward because you want eternal life and all of your friends are here and it's as close to the truth as it can possibly get so just deal with it.

Where has the Watchtower Society gone wrong and why haven't the DO's and CO's who are especially bright and so well-versed in the scriptures not figure out it's a hoax (if it in fact is)?
Being "bright" does not necessarily save a person from needing certainties and absolutes and from having deep-rooted fears of annihilation. Also, it takes a good amount of humility to face the facts that one has been duped, and badly.

Enough with the damn superhero/comic book movies already. I guess the premise of the film is 'what if a superhero was like us, with faults and personal demons?' Gag. As if that's profound in any way or a story that needs to be told. Gag.
This is one of those movies (and they are legion) where everybody will tell everybody else "it's really good!" - when it's not. And they will sell boatloads of it on DVD, and people who have already seen it in theaters will sit at home and watch it with on their big screen with glassy-eyed, mouth-agape, expressionless faces.
Dan, in a dyspeptic mood and very comfortable judging a movie I haven't seen, cuz, well, I just know.
