Did you always know you might leave?
by jws inif you grew up a jw, did you always know you weren't going to be one when you grew up?
did you ever have that spark?

No, I was convinced I'd be in the "new system" by 1975 - or soon after. Unlike others, I enjoyed meetings and FS. I wanted to help others be there after 1975 also.
Took me a while to work it out - but I did in the end.

Blood Issue took my mom last night
by rwagoner inafter years of fighting a physical disability that ended in kidney failure and several bouts of respiratory/cardiac arrestmy mom landed in the hospital last week.
the doc's said she needed heart surgery and kidney transplants but before they could operate they need to get her blood count back up.
it had fallen well below what her body could naturally restore on its own she she needed transfusions.

So sorry for your loss. I hope you have lots of support from your family and friends. I'd say wear your uniform with pride.

restrictions
by bonnzo inrecently i talked to an elder friend, who is used to and tolerates my liberal thinking about the "truth", about restrictions after df'ing and reproof.
i asked for the scriptural reasons for such.
he proceeded to hem and haw, "well they are necessary for blah, blah...." i repeated scriptural .

They just don't have an answer because there is no scriptural basis. Good reasoning.

Will I ever be free?
by Newborn ini've only been out since july and i fear i'll never get rid of hearing the wt voice at the back of my head.. for those of you who have been out for many years, do you feel you are totally free from them??.
thanks/newborn.

Yes, Newborn. It's early days yet and you'll get through. There will be some milestones, like the first memorial missed, the first birthday celebrated. It will feel strange but you'll get there.

I'd love to do it if the whole family was involved. We used to celebrate wedding anniversaries and they were fun at the time. I'm sure xmas would be even better.

My mom was beaming as he spoke. She was filled with so much admiration.
That's sweet, in a way. I guess they are happy being JWs!

My Wife goes back to Meetings after a year....but I just can't stomach it!
by Witness 007 ineverywhere i go latley we meet damn witnesses!

Compared to what you've been through, I think this is a small problem.
If going back to meetings makes her feel happy and more stable, let it be. That doesn't mean you have to go yourself though.
Think of it as a bit of "me" time - relax at home while she's at the meeting.

shunning normal people now??
by chellechelle insorry i posted another one it was a mistake, i clicked enter by accident...... anyways, the dubs are getting closer and closer to shunning everyone not jsut those who have been disfellowshipped or left the religion.
today i got a phone call from my grandmother that one of her best friends can no longer talk to her anymore.
my grandmother always didnt like the fact that my family were jw's but she was always respectful to everyone and kept her views to herself.
