sometime last year, around september or october, i was apparently disfellowshipped.
i say "apparently" because i never heard the announcement.
i faded years ago and haven't been to a meeting in years.
I'd say there was a DF-happy group of elders who decided to disfellowship anyone who hadn't been to meetings for a while (and maybe you were on the radar because your mum still goes). Along comes the CO and says you can't do that. So it got rescinded or cancelled. They are supposed to meet with you and extract the info from you that you no longer believe the F&DS (ie governing body) is god's representative. Then they can DF with full approval.
Actually they no longer announce that you are disfellowshipped. They announce that "........ is no longer a JW." But it means the same thing.
a jw relative of mine died last month.
i believe he was 80 years old.
he knew he was going to die and said all his goodbye to family and friends.
Funny though, his sister who was disfellowshipped years ago in now born again christian and he still talks with her and didn't ask her to leave.
That's inconsistent! I guess you'll never know the reasoning unless you ask him direct. Then again, it's usually best not to have those sort of conversations as they almost always result in worse treatment for someone.

That's appalling! Unfortunately, I think this would happen in most JW familes. Especially where there are elders in the family.
i`ve been "hanging around" on this jw.net for a while, so this is my very first posting.
i`m a former jw from germany, learnt the truth at the age of 20, got babtized 3 years later, and left the wt (for various reasons) about 4 years ago.
so i just like to say a warm friendly "hello" to everyone.
Hi Adrian, welcome to jwn!

just thought i would introduce myself, as it seems a bit rude not to.
this, in a nut shell, is my story.. i was a third generation witness and i did all the normal stuff we were expected to do.
left school early, pioneered, went to bethel, ms and all that palava.
Welcome tympan! Thank you for telling your story.

the witnesses.
the blond woman and her fair-haired daughter .
its the car probably, a station wagon.
That's a beautiful poem. Well - it speaks to me, remembering my days of rural witnessing. I thought this bit was interesting:
and me absorbed not in what they say but in the fact they’re there.
I wonder how many people saw through me when I was standing - in all sincerity - at their door.
hows that for a scandal post!.
the story so far...wife hurt her back a year ago and since has suffered depression sleeplessness and "mental problems" like incredible agression, she refused help and i was un-able to force her even when the police followed her home after she threw tablets in a chemists face {long story} they refused to take her to hospital on psyciatric grounds....and left me to handle it????
most folks don't relize my hands are tied.
It's hard making new friends when you leave the JWs. OK, it's easy to make casual acquaintances, but friends who care about you and will help in a dire situation - that's something else.

007, I'm sorry this is how it has turned out.
Hope you're OK.

a brother asked me last week about the un situation.
he said he had seen an email and he asked if the society had been a member of the u.n. before i used to hint that it was wrong, but it never got me anywhere, whoever i said that to would clam up or get angry with me.. so now i pretend to support the society.
when that brother asked me i replied, "well, it doesnt matter though.
BonaFide, that's very smart! And it's good to see you here too.
