They also think they are worthy of double honour. And some (usually uneducated) elders even tell this to the "flock".

Why elders are so CERTAIN of they OWN OPINIONS
by BonaFide inelders are told they are appointed by holy spirit.
that means the supreme god of the universe used his force to appoint them over the flock.. that is a major big deal.. so when they get in that back room, and the body of elders meets, or they are on a judicial committee or shepherding or whatever, they think they are speaking for jehovah god himself.. do we realize what that means?
that means that when they feel something, or they are emotional about something, or they get mad at someone in that room, they feel that is holy spirit directing them.. they don't realize they are on their own.

Bethel Security - Crazy incidents forced Australia to get gates and a guard!
by Witness 007 inaustralia bethel on the outskirts of sydney {about 35 km} had fences no front gates, and no real security for 12 years.
you could just walk on in anytime...theives once stole a bethelites car during the day and brothers waved goodbye as they left, nice!
a crazy person stripped naked and dived into the front fish pond, "baptising" himself.

Then again, if you were a JW "sister", you couldn't get in wearing a pants suit.

How old were you when you were baptized as a JW, and what was it like?

Scotinsw, welcome to JWn.
I was 15. I really felt I was dedicating my life to Jehovah. Many others of my age got baptized on the same day (it was a DC).
The day of my baptism stands out as the loneliest day of my life.
Finally-Free, that's very, very sad. You weren't even invited to celebrate with the others who got baptized. What a horrible bunch in your congregation.

Still an elder! Wow, interesting. I hope there are more elders like you. A pity you can't post more often but I can understand why you wouldn't want to use the home computer for posting.

They would do themselves and everyone else a favour if they just kept out of other people's private business.

My experience at the District Convention today - Appreciate your comments
by BonaFide ini know i am the one to constantly harp on this board how the organization has lost its "swagger" and the baptism and attendance is going down, and people are waking up.. not so fast.. the audience cried, i mean a lot of people cried when they played some of the songs from the new songbook.
some had bethel singers who sounded pretty good singing them.
so many after the program were saying how touched they were.. then the new release of the book showing how the book of acts prefigures the organization today.

BonaFide, I hear what you are saying. Most JWs I know love being JWs and they are happy most of the time. They think they have a sure hope and won't be leaving any time soon. The DCs are morale boosters and they get an emotional high from listening to the music and singing (the same as anyone would when singing in a large group). Think Susan Boyle.

Hi I'm new here
by BloominMarvellous infeeling guilty already about being on here, the familiar words are recalled in my mind "don't go on any jehovah's witness websites except 'watchtower.org'!
so here i am, desperate for some help.
i'm 21 and have been studying for 2 years, i was made an unbaptised publisher in february and it was all going great until i had a problem with getting a little tipsy, the elders had to come scrape me off the floor of my witness friends house and take me home.

Heather, what a wonderful friend you are to BloominMarvellous! Great that you've stuck by her during a tough time. You went to a lot of trouble to find out about the JWs (and it's funny that you've even caught on to the terminology, ie "worldly friends" and "the truth").
I wish both of you continued friendship and a happy future!

The meetings at the Kingdom Hall now are positively scary
by BonaFide inwhat was i thinking my entire life?
during the first part about submission, everyone gave the same comments about being obedient to the elders even though you may not agree with them.
and they talked about submission to the organization no matter what.. no one, i mean no one raised the possibility that the counsel or instructions might be wrong, or harmful.

No one after the meeting said they liked my comment.
I bet it made a few people think though.

by BonaFide inso after the meeting yesterday we went for coffee, nice group.
two baptized more than 40 years, one baptized 20 years, one baptized 11 years, and one study that was invited.. someone had picked up the 6/15 wt so i said, "wow, what do you think about new light?
" they said, "what new light?

BonaFide, that's hilarious! They're not keeping up with their own beliefs. Can you blame them though?
