That's shocking! I think people have lost the art of simple home cooked meals and are going for the fatty takeaway most of the time.
Are you missing Australia, jefferywhat?

i have just heard from my friends back home that after many years of trying, australia has finally taken over the us as the fattest nation on the planet!!
haahaahaahaaaa .
considering we get one gold medal at the olympics per1,186 population and the us gets only 1 gold per 8,487, we are use to coming in on top of the us but this is one comp we dont want to win.

while living in perth my step-dad and mother were pioneering....he was also a servant.
twice my mum left him due to violence...but, elder idiot encouragement sent her back to him.
this last time they had an arguement about the price of potatoes.
Welcome to JWD, the mike. Glad you and your wife were able to sort things out and have now been married for 19 years. You must have been lucky enough to get advice which was appropriate for yourselves. I'm saying this assuming the elders helped you to see that "fighting" is not the way christians resolve their differences. So hopefully after assistance from the elders, the remaining years of your marriage were peaceful.
Trying to strangle your wife is extreme. Witness 007, I hope your mum has the strength and courage to stay away from this violent man.
...................who was a witness at my judicial comm.
any of you that know me also know i was df'ed because an elder had an outcome in mind, and that was to keep me quiet about a pedophile in the congregation.
he was partly able to do that by using a sister (friend of mine and also another elder's daughter, who was on my jc)by getting her to incorrectly quote me as slandering the pedo's ms brother to her.
That's a happy ending! She must feel a lot better now she's had the chance to apologise to you.
i don't know why i am always led back to jw's.
tonight i feel real confused.
i was searching the internet to try to find some evidence that jesus existed and that all religion is not just some great hoax.
Welcome rustonmyhalo!!!
fascinating that theres a world of x jw's here
And we're in Australia as well. Most are in the eastern states but I'm in South Australia. One of our Sydney posters has his own website - www.jwfacts.com which is helpful for anyone wanting to make sense of JW related issues.
So welcome and glad you're here.

come on, i know you're out there.
we have kh's here, so there's gotta be a few ex-dubs from the nt lurking here...
Movie's finished... good comedy.
Was it scary though? And would it put people off from visiting the Northern Territory? I watched Wolf Creek and it wasn't as scary as I expected.
yesterday i had a little breakdown...laid down for a nap and woke up 17 hours later!
not so unexpected, just never done that before.. the first thing that came to my fogging brain this morning was that in a week i am moving.
back to colorado and to a town where i know hundreds of jw's.
A fade....a collision of honesty and deception. While the honesty and freedom of thought is growing inside of you, layers of facade are carefully added and taken away in order to protect and facilitate the delicate balance of "real life", while trying not to disturb the "other life".
I enjoyed that description.
The phrase I used most in explaining my position to JWs was, "I'm not going to meetings." Most really didn't know what to say after that (then you can change the subject to something normal - like the weather, or their health).
When elders called and asked what my problem was, I said I'd "lost my faith". They offered to get someone to study with me and I said I could study by myself. That's 10 years ago and they've never been back.
Sometimes the fear of what might happen is worse than the reality. That's easy for me to say in hindsight, of course. And not all elders are as "inattentive" as the ones in my neighbourhood.

I was born there...
sparrow, you're the closest we've got so far...
i was informed recently by my mother about the new awake!
directive concerning having an emergency bag of some description in preparation for 'disaster'.
apparently the directive was also highlighted at some meetings.
Hi whitman and welcome to JWD! Nice to see another Aussie on board.
I don't think a "directive" would be in an Awake! magazine. This is now a very "general interest" type of magazine. It might have been mentioned as a good idea in an article about natural disasters.

Jackie, sorry to disappoint but I'm from South Australia. I'm about 3000kms from Brin. I've been to the Northern Territory though and she's been to South Australia - so there is a certain kinship there.
brief historical recounting.... 3rd generation of 4 generation jw family.
elder for three years.
realized "the truth" wasn't in september of 2004. tried to fade by moving from michigan to southern california in june of 2005 with my (then) 17 year old daughter (who eventually left the organization herself.
That is such a good outcome, Confession. Thanks for sharing it with us. I feel the same about my parents - they are happy in their JW world so that's OK.
