It sounds like the kind of movie you have to see on the big screen. I'm looking forward to seeing it!

I'll just clarify that the first encounter in the KH was only the start of the abuse.

But what I want to know is in what way were the parents negligent?
"Palpable" means "readily perceived, obvious" (that's one meaning, according to my dictionary).
So another way of saying this would be, "The guilt of the parents....is readily perceived." I imagine it was obvious in the court, that the parents felt guilty.
The "Sunday" programme "Silent Witnesses" of 22 Sep 2002 gave a lot more details about this case. One of the brothers was 12 years old when he was first molested in the KH. He kept this secret until he found out that his younger brother had also been abused. The parents went to the elders and the abuser was disfellowshipped for 6 months. The parents were apparently told not to go to the police. Whether they were told that or not, the facts are that they (the parents) didn't go to the police.
The transcript of the Sunday programme says:
"Years went by as the family nursed its secret. Then finally Simon could cope no longer and went to the police."
Now if you were the parent, you might feel bad that it had been left up to the son to go to the police after years of mental trauma.

Did your Parents force you to do School Projects out of the JW magazines
by orangefatcat inmy parents wouldn't let us read anything but the watch tower stuff and if we had to do a report on anything at school it had to be a project out of an awake magazine.
did your parents do this to you too?

I wasn't forced, I did it voluntarily. And I did usually get A's.
Let's face it, most of the stuff you learn in school isn't rocket science (at least the subjects most JWs do). So some of the Awake magazines would fit in OK.

Update on me
by BonaFide inwell, in the past couple of months the elders still havent met with me again regarding the porneia accusation.
either they are waiting for the circuit overseer visit next week to ask them what to do, or they wrote to bethel, or the sister decided not to lie anymore, i am not sure.
but seems like the elders are really after me.

My family is ignoring me more and more
BonaFide, that must be horrible! I think you need to start planning for your post-JW life - work out what your interests are, read books, watch movies, even just to get your mind off your situation. Do some short courses on a weekend maybe - so you can miss some meetings! It's important to start missing some of those meetings!
Don't worry about Farkel. Of course you are not like a typical CO (ex-CO actually). If you were, you wouldn't be here!

I love my Aussie backyard too! It's on the outskirts of Adelaide - quite a small yard but manages to fit in a few fruit trees, vegies and herbs. I've also still got a bit of lawn which is not looking too bad considering we're on water restrictions.

I hope this news is true!
by wozadummy ini've mentioned before here that in my old congo that there is a pedophile who has been there for some years.
just to re-cap - he was an elder in a congo more south from my old congo for some years and stopped being an elder there for unknown reasons to us when he and his wife moved to our congo when we attended.. in time it came out ,from an elderly pioneer who was close to my wife, that he had been df'd before for adultery or some such.. now in our congregation he got df'd again and because the pioneer sister used to get a lift to meetings from them ,she was told by the pedo's wife that he had been accused of molesting his girls when they were kids.
of course the stupid woman was actually defending her husband to the pioneer - this is her daughters this animal molested!!.

the pedo has been to court and is now being sentenced to jail in a couple of weeks
This will shock the local JW community to the core. I'm shocked myself, wozadummy! But it's a relief that someone had the courage to go to the police instead of just reporting it to the elders.

Disfellowshiped Last Night - Elder Question
by johnnyc ini know some of you know me by my posts...as someone very much on the "fence".
recently, i had made an effort to start coming back to meetings after being inactive for 2+ years.
during that time, i did have a prescription drug problem following an injury.

I'm disgusted that you've been disfellowshipped. I think you should appeal, if that doesn't work, appeal again (go straight to headquarters).
And tell as many people as possible about how you have been treated! Both inside and outside the org (yes, tell your doctor, your neighbours, workmates if any - they'll give you support).
