  Who are false prophets?

  are the watchtower society false prophets?

  well it says in the bible, should someone make a prophecy and it not come about then that individual is a false prophet.

  jesus said no one would know when the time of the end was.

  The defining factor is that they don't claim to be inspired prophets. They allegedly aren't prophesying in His name.

  So it isn't God's actual words they speak - He only guides them.

  The tongue-tying and tortured language that the WTS uses to excuse their own bullsh*t never ceases to amaze me. It's like when Bill Clinton said that it all depends on what the deffintion of the word "is" is.

  Drop Dead Gorgeous!

  back when i was attending kingdom halls, our circuit had a lot of 'drop dead gorgeous' women, many whom were married to the geekiest looking guys.

  i always asked myself, "how did these 'dorks' do it"!.

  was this because selection was limited, or was this just a peculiarity in our area?

  What's the point of the HLC's?

  now that the wt society allows most individual blood components to transfused as a "conscience matter", what remains the purpose of the hospital liaison commitee's?

  why doesn't the wts just wind this commitee stuff back now?

  it must cost precious time and money to organise these hlc's.

  The depth and activity of the HLCs are more far reaching than issues regarding blood transfusions. They also make sure that Witnesses have visitors and moral support when they are hospitalized (if that is the patients wish). Remember, that the HLCs are not even allowed to get involved unless the JW patient has signed a "Consent For Pastoral Visits" and has submitted it to the hospital. I have rarely seen the HLCs involve themselves in the personal affairs of patients unless they are called in for support or assistance.

  I understand being angy when one has been personally insulted. But, obviously, this is an issue between you and a couple of other individuals on the board.

  The vast majority on this board would never even think of calling someone a vulgar name. I doubt that calling this website a "cesspool" is a rational response to a quarrel that you have with a couple of individuals.

  I don't excuse anybody on this site calling someone else a vulgar name. But, at the same time, I don't think that it is fair to broad-brush this website as a "cesspool" due to the insults from a couple of individuals. As I recall, I sort of teased you a little bit in that thread too, and if that was offensive to you, I truly apologize.

  I'm not taking any sides here, I'm just sticking up for the reputations of the hundreds of good and decent people on this website.

  Running my first 5K - Want to come and cheer me on? :D

  on saturday, september 9th, 2006 i will be running my first 5k (3 miles) race in the freedom run (www.freedomrun.com).

  we start running at 8:30 am.

  there will also be a 1 mile walk for anyone who wants to support the cause but is not up to running three miles.

  Now what?

  i had chemo today and i feel terrible.

  when i got home i was expected to cook dinner and have the clothes washed since i didn"t work today.. the owner of the business expects me to go to the tax central appraisal district and represent him on the personal property tax for the business.

  i just went to bed and had nausea today maybe i will be ok tomorrow and get all the things done i need to.. peace ya"ll.

  Earthquakes and rumors of war or whatever ;o)

  i was so inspired by the ridicolousness of thirdwitnoid in that other thread ("the gentile times reconsidered again...but this time i am using the bible"), in which he actually dared bring up the old "increase in earthquakes"-fairytale from the wt and asleep.

  it really had nothing to do in that thread, which was about 607 vs 587 (oh no, not that again.... datelocationdeathsmagnitude.

  The whole theory of earthquakes increasing in frequency and severity since 1914 is a sham. Carl Olof Jonsson, when researching his book: Sign of the Last Days, corresponded with respected geologists regarding the whole earthquake issue. Not one of the geologists he talked with could find any data that substantiated the WTS claim regarding earthquakes since 1914. Jonsson even printed a couple of the letters inside his book so that the reader could see it for themself.

  Do you believe Jesus was married?

  this is related to my question in "entertainment" regarding "the da vinci code".

  in the book and the movie, it is claimed that jesus was actually married to mary magdelene, and that they had a child, descendants of whom survive even at the present time.

  so, my question is: do you think any of this is true, could possibly be true, or is just plain wrong?

  No. I think that the Da Vinci Code was a really neat book, but I am confident that the theories are based upon historical fiction. I think it is similar to many other historical fictions; such as King David slaying Goliath, and the story of George Washington chopping down his father's cherry tree.

  The end times and big announcements

  for anyone of us familiar with this religion.....we were taught no one knows the day or the hour.

  now should that be a 7000 year day, 1000 year day or 24 hour day, and any predictions concerning this or assuming knowledge of any sort would be exposing them selves as false prophets.. the wbts likely to whip up a frenzy of one sort or another due to clever rhetoric is typical, but all of us "out" know better.

  it usually happens in the fall, ......just like this year.. no one here needs to hold their breath.

  I don't think there is going to be any kind of prediction. I think that it is going to be an internal change in the Society or in the congregation arrangement. Remember 1990? This is when we were told of a "major announcement going to be made to the friends world wide". This was merely the change to the donation arrangement. I don't think that they are dumb enough to reenact 1975.
