  The Bible teaches that God kills unborn children

  i was thinking about this today, in that so many christians claim the bible never speaks of god killing unborn children.

  they use references to god saying that he would apply the "eye for an eye" rule with the accidental killing of a child in the womb of the woman.

  yet, does anyone realize the bible speaks of the hebrew god as killing several, numerous, unborn children.

  Yet, does anyone realize the Bible speaks of the Hebrew God as killing several, numerous, unborn children. Where? Does anyone remember how he killed all the people with the flood of Noah? How he killed all the residents of Sodom and Gomorrah? How he killed everyone in the city of Jericho?

  Yes, this is a major point of contention that I have always had with those who insist on believing in Biblical irrerancy. It's painful to watch JWs go through pitiful intellectual gymnastics to try to explain all of this away. If Jehovah God wants us to "hate vilolence", then how are we supposed to love "His written word"?

  The Old Testament is some of the sickest literature I have ever read. And fundamentalists want to criticise Dan Brown for writing The DaVinci Code? Please.

  Elders Are Closing In....

  well, it's been about 6 months or so since i've turned in a time report and things are heating up a bit.

  i still attend the meetings with my wife - i am still "visible" - but i have not gone out in service for a conspicuous amount of time.

  just this afternoon the po called and wanted to meet with me.

  I too, watched FOX News today, and didn't see anything mentioned about a possible Iran attack on the U.S. They did however, emphasise that Iran could launch an attack on Israel, or aide Hezbollah in escalating it's rocket attacks into Israel.

  joke - chris rock - "when i was growing up i thought that the jw's were the meanest toughest gang in the world, because every time my family saw them coming down the street, my parents would say 'run hide, its the jehovah's witnesses' and we would all hit the floor.

  I absolutely love the scene in the movie Airplane where actor Robert Stack is walking into the airport, when a JW walks up to him and tries to give him a tract. He does an elaborate kung-fu move on the JW and kicks his ass. It's hilarious.

  A Dumb, Dumb, Dumb "Preaching Work"

  the latest august kingdom ministry contains this little gem:.

  " ....show how to handle the potential conversation stopper "i'm not interested in jehovah's witnesses".. um......... anybody remember that guy jesus, who started the whole idea of christian preaching, giving instructions on how to preach?.

  like "casting pearls before swine" or shaking the dust off your feet if "a place will not receive you nor hear you"?

  Has anybody here ever seen one of those childish responses work on a "coversation stopper"? I personally, in over 20 years of door encounters never saw this method work on people. It always made them irritated.

  This stupid method of trying to counter a conversation stopper just reeks of used car salesman. It tells the householder that you have an inferior product, and therfore must resort manipulative coercion tactics to try to sell it. This is pitiful, indeed.

  i am rather new here, so i may be repeating a worn out subject.

  however, for me it is rather a new experience, since i have only just recently stopped going to the kh.

  my heart has never really been in it, though i am not in total disagreement and have made some nice friends in "the truth".

  Pragmatically, I treat a Jehovah's Witness like they are mentally ill. Never agitate a person who's separated from reality and who's clinging to a delusion by challenging the delusion in any way. Respect the delusion no matter how unrespectable the delusion is!

  Garybuss, that is one of the best pieces of advice that I have seen on this site. It's really simple, yet very profound indeed.

  the worse the world conditions become, the more i love to read.

  If someone says they worship Satan

  do you think they are doing this because they truly love the satan character and want to please him or do you think they do it for complete shock value.

  to basically do something that makes what is defined as good in society (christian religion) angry that someone would do something so wrong.

  personally, i do not think there is one satanist out their who truly thinks that they are worshiping a being that is real, or actually something that could benefit from their worship.

  Do any of you remember the show that Geraldo did on this subject when he had his talk show in NY? I remember he interviewed three Satanists. I remember that one of them summed up their belief in Satan worship quite succintly. He said that they view Satan as a made up character in the Old Testament. They worshipped Satan not as a real person, but as a concept.

  To them, Satan was an icon of that which is opposed to patriarchal, Judeo-Christian values. This was the basic tenet of their "religion"; the opposition of the Old Testament moral system; and pretty much everything else Biblical.
