  how many of you here have pictures with you and famous or well-known hollywood actors?.

  i was going through my pictures and i came across a few..... so, i will start a fluff thread and hopefully, we will get to see some of our favorite stars with a legendary poster!!!!.

  Intellectual dishonesty in the New Tract !

  in reviewing the new tract i noticed some interesting dishonesty within;

  on page three when the wts is describing 'false religion' riding on the back of the scarlet colored wild beast - they coyly refer to the beast as ' the world's political powers*'

  - the footnote reads " * for a detailed explanation of this subject, see the book revelation - its grand climax at hand published by jehovah's witnesses.

  I can't remember how they got the information. But it seems if they are staying clear of mentioning the UN that it may have truth to it?
  

  Does anyone know how we can find out?

  I'm sure that all NGO's in the United States that are registered with the U.N. are public record. I'm guessing that this info could be requested from the U.N., or obtained through other public records.   What the tract needs to say is: "For a detailed explanation of this subject, see the updates and revisions that are scotch taped inside of the Revelation Climax Book of the Witness who gave you this tract."

  i am trying to compile a list of proof's, issues, lies, etc that prove that the wts is not jehovah's channel.

  An organization that is operating from the true power of God, would not have to resort to the weakness of brute force by coercing people through guilt and fear. True power would not have to use psychological manipulation tactics to force people into unity (i.e. conformity). Such traits are the characteristics of insecurity and vulnerability; not Godly power.

  if you live in or near toronto are you going to the international movie festival?

  yours truly and my missus, one of twelve, appear in the film 'out of the blue'.

  it premieres on the 11th sept. the whole thing has been kept secret from the cast and we wont get to see it ourselves until october/november.

  I can't immagine Vanilla Ice performing at anything but a small venue. This is probably a week where he wasn't booked at a barmitzvah.

  The name changes again

  has anyone noticed how jehovahs witnesses are starting to be refered to in the press as "the christian congregation of jehovahs witnesses"?.

  i wonder what the rationale is for the subtle name change.

  i realize they had started up a new legal entity with that name but i didn't realize that they had extended it to the religion as a whole.

  It may be due in part to the huge amount of information that is available on the internet by ex-JWs. Many in the public have now become well educated about the Watchtower Society, and tend to use the terms Jehovah's Witnesses and Watchtower Society interchangeably. I think that the GB does not want the public to perceive the Witnesses as being members of a publishing company instead of being part of a worldwide "congregation". J.R. Brown even made statements along these lines in one of his PR puff pieces.

  What did they say was wrong with Hypnosis??

  my doctor wants me to try hypnosis to help my sleep and anxiety.

  he says it is just a matter of making your mind focus on what you want it to do.

  i cannot remember what was supposedly wrong with it in the borg??

  i was raised a witness, and was one for 18 years of my life.

  now at 21 i'm very much out of it (the organization that is).

  i still have a few friends that are in the organization.

  Richard Eliott Friedman is a highly respected Old Testament scholar. His book: Who Wrote the Bible is an excellent commentary on the Documentary Hypothesis, which disproves many Watchtower Society claims.

  Tim Callahan is a respected historian who wrote the book: Secret Origins of the Bible. In my opinion, Callahan's research provides rock-solid evidence that many of the accounts found in the Old Testament were based upon earlier mythological writings.

  Ron Rhodes who is a prolific Christian writer has written a book called Reasoning From the Scriptures With Jehovah's Witnesses. I found his book to be a good refutation of many of the WTS's unique, and problematic interpretations.
