the bbc panarama documentary on the watchtowers child abuse
OK, sorry for a short hijack, is there a link available to this??
what was the biggest scandals[or incidents] in your own congregations that got you starting to doubt whether the watchtower was what it made itself out to be?.
one the things for me was the attitude of the people in the congregation after i had took some time off meetings and then returned again.i quickly realized there was no unconditional love only conditional love.also when the watchtower had a letter read out from the platform warning us to not watch the bbc panarama documentary on the watchtowers child abuse problems.and everyone just avoided watching it and said that it was "satan"trying to use anything to get us out the "truth".

last week during bible highlights, a sister commented on leviticus 19:28 about not having a tattoo.
i also commented, saying that we are not under the law, but the principle should be taken into consideration.. a sister i don't speak with very often called me.
she is in the same congregation as some of my family.
BonaFide, threads such as this are quite helpful to me, seeing just how nonsensical the thinkings and teachings of the WTS are....
this probably seems like a strange question, i know that the jws will only allow a divorce in a very limited number of circumstances, but what would their view be towards a study getting a divorce if no adultery involved, if her husband is a ubm?
?.
OK, so they would counsel for a study to not divorce unless there was a 'spiritual endangerment', which all but has to be a physical restrainment, or adultery involved......
Am sort of surprised by this, I would think that they would want to 'purge the UBMs' upfront, but I guess as long as I am not overtly apostate, I am a potential male recruit.....sigh
long story as to what happened to mine.. if anyone would be so kind as to repost a new download link.
i remember atlantis had posted it awhile back, but the link is not working.. i will be eternally grateful.. .
many thanks.
Appreciate the links Black Sheep!!

occassionally (very) i have met jw's that don't know me and i would like to ask them something to make them think.. any suggestions for quick, simple, thought provoking questions to ask jw's that you may meet?.
i seem to remember 'v' did a youtube question along the lines of,.
''how can you belong to a religion that allows blood fractions to be transfused?''.
Heaven,
I like that question, very simple, to the point!

Forgot to say thanks!!!!
i talked to an ex-jw this weekend.
her sister had told her that there was a softening up on how to treat dfs family members at the assembly.
it was the impression her sister got from the drama.
My wife said the drama was 'stupendous', I am sure she will be trying to figure out what it really means. I heard her talking to her study sister about how her father has been reinstated and how wonderful that is that he is once again close to Jehovah.
Shunning, a very heinous doctrine!

It moves lovers of God to avoid any form of entertainment that may foster a taste for violence.
I am betting that this statement will start to change my wife's view on the son participating in karate........I can hear it already.....
the may 27, 1942 consolation (the precusor to awake!
) contained a lengthy 16 page article about the failed attempts of the watchtower society to bury judge rutherford at his beloved home in san diego, beth sarim.
it contains a fascinating look into the place beth sarim held for jws during this period.
Thanks, looking forward to reading through this document!!
