  My wife is a very independent minded gal with respect to the role of women in society, and I agree with her thoughts, I can not see how she would even be the slightest bit interested in any organization that has such a twisted view on headship.....

  What amazes me is how she draws the line when one talks about women in the role of church leadership.

  For all of her independent thoughts and views, I can not see how she gets lead down the wt path

  Just got a phone call...

  my oldest daughter (who is currently up in ct) just called to tell me my stepmother (wicked witch of the west) was in an accident yesterday evening.

  she was riding a moped and crashed it into a parked car (don't ask me what an overweight 53 year old woman with bad knees is doing on a moped but whatever...supposed to save on the cost of gas or something).

  anyway...she shattered her right leg and wrist in the accident (her good walking side) and apparently will never be the same.

  my soon to be ex husband takes my daughter, who is two and a half, to the meetings still because our divorce judge awarded him her on those nights since i didnt attend a place of worship at the time of our split.

  (well duh, i was recovering from a cult) i recently found out she has been "answering" at the meetings.

  (she is very advanced for her age, very talkative and articulate) i'm just sick from this.

  Sorry to hear that, I don't understand how a parent can use a child as a puppet, it seems to me that he is using her only for his gain. What is amazing is there is no way he could not know that this sort of thing is not at all what you are wanting!!!

  That is amazing, if a 'run of the mill' jw would make the comments she makes, OUT.

  Secondly, her line of clothing, Aneres, is far from 'modest' clothing that was talked about at the DC. I guess her idea is for men to commit spritual adultery!

  Will the Organization fall apart?

  major changes in meetings, the weird drama this year, and just people reading on the internet, are causing a lot to leave the organization, or just fade.

  is it possible that, just like a house of cards, the whole thing will fall apart soon?

  i mean, this may be wishful thinking, but is it possible that people will start to dissassociate themselves in bigger numbers, then groups and families will do so, then bigger and bigger groups of friends will do it, and then people who hear about this will check on the internet and then do the same thing, then congregations have to be dissolved and merged, then the talks start getting meaner, and that makes even more people quit, then thousands start to leave.. possible?.

  What has amazed me is how insulated the wts seems to be from the media in the US. There are constant changes in their doctrines on issues such as blood, where a lot of folks have died by following their guidance, and the papers, radio and television outlets seem to stay silent.

  The child abuse scandal that has been uncovered, even with the settlement, just seems to have been brushed aside, even though with 'more mainstream' churches, a lot of these sorts of incidents get press, maybe not leading off the national network news, but at least on the 'other stories' page in the newspaper. Outside of the posts on this site and links from freemind, I would have never have known these stories have broken.

  Education is also something that one would think would get some reaction by the media outlets. Quotes from the DC or from their literature are priceless, no way this stuff could be made up, and the ignorant stance of the society would shine....brightly!

  One would think that in an election year with such a huge effort to register voters as well as medicine being such a central part of the campaigns, there would be some mention at least of a block of folks who are not voters, who believe in a strange medical practice that is often quite expensive to deal with, but who are still willing to be first in line when the governments are handing things out!

  I am in pretty much the same boat as treadsecu, my wife has been exposed to the WTS for almost 23 or 24 years, but has never taken the baptismal plunge. We have been married for just about three years now and this is her second curiousity spell with a possible BS, but this time she told the sister she does not want to study WT pubs, just the bible.

  Well I guess I got off track there, I tend to come back on when my wife seems to get interested again!! I need her to get her degree finished and get a full time job!!!
