Great analysis Listener.....I think you know her better than I!!
One other addition, I think she knows what her friends are going to tell her, because at least one of them has seen her do this twice before!
my wife is again studying with a jw sister, and earlier this week the sister was telling her about how wonderful it is to witness for jehovah.
well since i have known my wife, she has never spoken positively about the jws to anyone.
when can i expect her to be told that she should be sharing this with others.

so i was talking to a friend of mine who was also raised a jw and who is also "inactive".
he is seriously considering going back.
the thing is that he is all into higher ed and is currently getting his masters.
Not sure on the letter, but the Sept. public edition of the WT has education compared to things such as drug abuse and smoking....
i occasionally find myself wondering whether the situation with russia is the bible prophesy of the king of the north and his final rising up being fullfilled.although im out of the watchtower i sometimes wonder.. what do you think the situation with russia is leading too?is it a new cold war starting?.
I will have more concerns if the relationship between the US and China starts to decay...right now they have too much need for each other to let the relationship get bad.

My wife is again studying with a jw sister, and earlier this week the sister was telling her about how wonderful it is to witness for Jehovah.
Well since I have known my wife, she has never spoken positively about the JWs to anyone. When can I expect her to be told that she should be sharing this with others. What is strange to me is she is extremely evasive about the studies, meetings and everything, not only to me but also to her friends.
gabe sherman from new york magazine is looking to do a piece on life at bethel, patterson vs. farm, etc.
and seems to favor human interest issues, so if you were at bethel for a few years and would like to share with him, here is the contact info:.
dear randy,.
This looks like a great opportunity to, if stated correctly, get some exposure of what it is like being on the inside of this organization.
my wife had a bible study with the sister and her daughter actually yesterday evening (i am guessing that the daughter needed some time), i was in the living room at the time, and i will post the notes from this conversation later this evening (at work now, don't have them here).
my wife had wanted to learn how to read the bible from them, but they of course manipulated her to a book study within two weeks!.
at the end of this bible study (they started the bible teach book, got to paragraph 13 in chapter one) the sister asked my wife if i still wanted to talk to her husband on wednesday, i said i would be very interested, but i want my wife and i to both be involved in the discussions (want to have her hear what we are talking about, firstly if i can ask an interesting question, and secondly i want her to see i am not a raging apostate to the gentleman - and he is a pretty nice guy).. .
Good approach kzjw, this may actually work better just between her and I as a follow up discussion at some time...
The research into 1919 approach appeals to my numbers and facts mind, but I am sure that it will not work with my wife..I really need to figure out what the appeal really is to her!
yes, the fairly new bible teach book contains some info in the appendix, but do witnesses include that in the study?.
Very interesting thread.....I am still trying to figure out what the draw is to my wife.
I believe it is a social network with a well defined, almost recipe approach, to a form of salvation where you let someone else do the thinking and dictate your thoughts.....which I find not appealing at all...
I am unsure how much of these hard to uncover issues she knows about, she knows nothing of blood fractions or the harshness of shunning, and she really wonders what is the importance of 1914. In addition, she does not know about the selection of the FDS in 1918-1919...

If I am not in her study, could I do a follow-up with her and at that time we read the full chapters?

As I had posted last week, the session with them last week was I feel pretty much a disaster, they kept steering me to Trinity and then just really got nowhere (was supposed to have been Michael=Jesus and Generation), so I have no idea what they are planning for this week, I am guessing he will be ready with Michael, and I will be a 'very interested listener' and not talk the doctrinal issues until I get a chance to question my wife at another time....any other ideas what to talk about, or questions to ask.
As suggested by others......I AM STAYING AS FAR AWAY FROM DOCTRINE AS I CAN....at least the core doctrines - got way too wrapped up in bible hopscotch last time and was very, very frustrated afterwards!
Any ideas???
By the way, I think they are preparing to drop the 'education bomb' on my wife, the sister asked her what she was studying, are you studying to get a job or get a better job, and then said she would look out for 'secretarial' jobs for her where she works (the local school offices). Wouldn't that be a fine use of two associates degrees.
i am an "active" jehovah's witness in that i go to the meetings, smile and nod, and pretend to go along with everything happening around me.
this is not because i believe that the wbts has any redeeming value but because i am trying to keep my family from being shred to pieces.
because of my "independent thinking" and use of rational thought, i would clearly be labeled "apostate" and ousted from my current congregation.
Thanks, aren't all three of these also core doctrine of Christadelphians and SDA??
So stay away from these in my discussions with the witnesses, and if they try to pull me there, pull back to something else.
I would like to some how or other get the PO and his wife to tell my wife about the appointment of the FDS, what would be a good slant to get this topic started.....is there a good question I can ask that may cause him to go into a discussion of this?
They are coming over tomorrow evening!
