too often the loved ones of ex-jws feel like they're on the sidelines when it comes to religious issues.
i wanted to help the woman who's husband still won't decorate the christmas tree, the man who's wife will cook a ham but won't hide eggs for the kids on easter, or just anyone wondering why their significant other is being shunned by his/her family at the behest of a book publishing corporation.

Thanks again for your review.....when I see the 'false happiness' that is portrayed by my wife's witness acquaintences, it amazes me. We recently moved and her study 'friend' dropped her like a hot potato and handed her off to someone else, I guess a lot was due to our new area being a different congregation, but my wife has not had a phone call from her in the two months since.
I can not see how happiness can be dwelling on the end, looking at every disaster and other bad news like crime, financial issues and the like as being signs we are in the end times. What happened to the bible verse that talks about living for today, enjoying the gifts that we are given and not always hoping for the next disaster so the end seems closer....
Happiness.....what a joke!

the high cost of divorcing a JW............
by oompa indivorce is hard for everyone, unless the person is just jumping for joy to get out it.....but even then it can be rough....and you lose half your assets.....some people stay in bad marriages just because they can not afford to be divorced........ but esp if you are a born in jw.....you know what is so unfair compared to normal non-jw divorces????

Same here Oompa, I wish I could better speak my mind, but I really do not like to hurt as well.....and anything I say anti JW tends to hurt.
What I am hoping is that she sees how disfunctional her JW family is and realizes that a lot of it is due to the association with the WTS.....

I can relate to this, there are some days all is very well, and then other days that this path is definitely thought about.....my wife has not done a bs or gone to the meetings in almost a month, but now when I called home, she said she will call me back...so I know she is presently having her 'personal bible study'....so most likely she will be all dubbed up.
Just this past Sunday she blew off the meeting to go to a movie.....how things can change.

we are getting ice
by purplesofa inwow, just the other day i was outside at night in shortsleeves and sandels and today we have freezing rain.. it is very pretty out here in the country.. hopefully tomorrow the sun will shine some and i can get some pics of it.. and hopefully i won't lose internet connection!!!.
cooked a big pot of beans and cornbread, staying warm.. .

Was up in Northern Indiana over the ice storm.....flew into Indy on the 23rd, got stuck, then was 3 degrees on the 25th, very icy on the 26th and then if I remember correctly, was in the 60s the next day.....quite warm for up there.
Cornbread and REAL sweet tea, sounds great!!!
