  Worshipping Jehovah without all the rules?

  hi again.... i've been searching around for a few days now trying to understand whether or not there are spiritual folks out there who believe some of the fundamental tenents of the witness religion, but don't believe in all the rules that the gb puts forth... many of the folks that i talk to tell me that the only way to salvation is through acceptance of jesus as god.

  i do accept jesus as the messiah, as a perfect man that god sent to atone for the sins of adam, but i don't believe he is god.... i believe there is one god, one son and one holy spirit and they are not three persons in one god... i feel weird whenever i go to another service that exalts the trinity, as well as some other basic rituals of their religion.... am i making sense?.

  a letter from the wts was just read to our congregation: during upcoming district assemblies, there will be credit card terminal available so people can donate using their credit/debit cards.. maybe it's old news, but i just found out last monday, and i find it terribly disturbing.

  the wts/jw's is becoming more and more mainstream, not different at all form those churches that are only after your money... oh, wait!

  maybe tey are only after our money.. .

  It will be interesting how shunning will be done in the drama concerning the two DF, will they play that down?

  Good question purps, they need to be a bit cautious on that since the general public is invited.

  Wife's bible study continues....prophecies of 1914

  well the wife's bs continues.....it seems they are somewhat leaping around right now, yesterday she was shown the 'amazing prophetic' explanation of 1914......she read the bible teach book account of it to me last night, did all i could to avoid wretching...... any ideas of simple questions i could ask to get her thinking, i know all the history of the 1914 stuff, originally pyramids, the wts being the only people to use 607 as the destruction date of the temple, but i do not want to come out with a lot of facts....i need her to think for herself......

  Great line of reasoning IA, also like the use of current literature to ask a question from, I beleive she has this wt at home now...so could be a very easy line of quesitioning, especially since the article in bible teach starts out with "Decades in advance, Bible students proclaimed that there would be ......."

  Any other ideas are solicited and appreciated.

  I am pretty sure as soon as I ask her any of these questions she will pick up the phone and call the dubette or her husband, her husband has already so kindly offered to enter into these 'interesting discussions' with me.....

  End of Civil War in Sri Lanka

  since so much of the 'gloom/end times' talk is based on all the wars, increase in earthquake activity.....how does a jw respond when things like the 25 year civil war in sri lanka end??

  Probably true they could not find the location....does sound like a baseball team <grin>

  I guess the reason I asked in the first place, a witness will make sure any bad event is highlighted beyond belief, a sign we are so close to the end, but good news all but gets swept under the rug.....

  My personal opinion (nothing really to back this up) is it is part of the game of bible hopscotch, site other translations when it can be used for their own good then one may not be as suspicious when they need to use the Not Well Translated (NWT) - (thanks WT Wizard).
