When I was a witness and my younger sister got married. My oldest sister was invited. She had left the 'truth' about 10 years prior and moved away. So, she decided to attend and put the way she was treated by the cong and her family behind her. The wedding was not at the kingdom hall but of course everyone there was a J dub. At the reception people kept coming up to me and my family saying that they had heard my sister was DFed (she wasn't)and if that was true they would feel uncomfortable being there. I was a witness then. But I felt so bad for my 'worldly' sister since she hadn't seen these people for 10 or more years and they were mocking her and talking behind her back. Today, I wish I could go back to that wedding and punch out those little twirps. Wow, I can't believe I was ever apart of that cult!!

Disfellowshipped but sister in the 'truth' to be married soon
by cyberdyne systems 101 injust wanted to start a topic on an event that will occur sometime later this year - namely my sister is to be married.
she is a witness as is her boyfriend, none of his family are in but only myself and my dad are not (he has never joined) from my sister imediate family.
so i was wondering what to expect, what experiences people here have had being someone who has left and then later been disfellowshipped, and then finding they might be invited to a witness wedding?

Just wondering?
by beautifulisfree ini was wondering why the wts uses 'pagan origins' as an excuse to not celebrate most holidays?
when everyday life is filled with things of 'pagan origins'.
just the other night i was watching csi las vegas and it told the backround of bridesmades....(to protect the bride from evil spirits and they dress slightly like the bride so as to try to fool the evil spirits) and wedding rings are 'pagan' to.

Have you ever had a prayer answered?
by nicolaou inprayer topics seem to be the bandwagon of the moment so i'm jumping on!
seriously, has anyone here asked for something specific in prayer and actually gotten what they asked for?
what convinces you that you wouldn't have got it in any case?

God has answered a prayer or two of mine...The best one was on a Meeting night. I was supposed to give a talk...about forgiveness. but, that night at supper my parents told me I could no longer hang out with my best friend because of something bad she had done. I was soo sad and crying non-stop. So, I prayed that I didn't have to give my talk or even go to the meeting. That night at about 7 pm an elder called and said the meeting was cancelled!! Trust me it had to be God since that cong NEVER cancels and I didn't even notice that it was even snowing out that night!

I am going to Schne_belly's house for dinner. YUMMY I didn't know we were having Italian. Maybe go un-witnessing? We'll have to wait and see....since all of the robots are going to be at the satanic ritual.

DEAREST LeftBehind,
I am jumping up and down with joy....we are all so happy when someone breaks free!! I am glad you found out the truth. When you first come out it is a hard battle. It's like starting your life over again. Trying to figure out what you believe in and the emotions you go through are CRAZY but it gets better. Hope your life is full of joy and love and I wish you the best of luck in the future!!

I'm in love with a Jehovah Witness, Is it really a losing battle?
by icon ini have been reading all of the feed back for saddler and the others.
i too have been in a relationship with a jw for a little over a year.
i love her very much but all the abuse i have taken over the pass year from her elders, uncles, grandfather...etc has really taken it's toll on me.

I am glad my 'worldy' husband didn't listen to all his friends/family and get out of our witness/non-witness relationship. However, I never wanted a hall wedding or did I ever care what the congergation thought of me. If your girlfriend wants a hall wedding she is basically saying that she wants you to become a witness and a very spititual one at that...it is absolutly true that if you even became a witness today and got married it could NOT be in the hall. I suggest buying a copy of CRISIS OF CONSCIENCE by Raymond Franz and accidently leave it out....if she sees it and goes ballistic then I would get out of the relationship...because there is no way you will win this battle . I just wish my husband would of shown or known about the book right away in our relationship so we didn't have to go through such he!!.

Puke-making article on WTS homepage
by yaddayadda in"discipline that yields peaceable fruit".
http://www.watchtower.org/library/w/1988/4/15/article_01.htm.
notice the blatant abuse of context in saying that the 'no greeting' treatment to be given at 2 john 9-11 (persons bringing an anti-christ teaching to your home) should be the same as 1 cor 5 (persons who wilfully practice sins of the flesh).

Happens all the time here...at the bars (ssssh) Now we have more friends who understand what we are going through!! Most of them just left on their own..not knowing it wasn't the truth. So, its fun to tell them all the stuff we learned and most of them are willing to listen.
