  I found out yesterday that one of my grandnieces was molested by
  the cousin of her father. She is about 4.
  
  I just feel my soul ripping inside upon hearing this.
  
  He may as well have raped me the feeling is so intense.
  
  I believe that rape and child molestation should be capital offenses.

  Things that are really bad.

  as jw's we were taught that almost everything was bad for some reason or another.

  xmas, birthdays, lucky charms, watching r rated movies, not going to meetings, .

  going to college, liking sports, etc.

  going to college, liking sports, etc. etc. etc.
  
  but what is really bad. my list would be
  
  abuse
  lying
  cheating
  physical or psychological harm to other beings (human and non human)
  desiring that bad things happen to other people.
  
  what is odd and truly sad is that most JW punishment is doled out for
  sex, smoking or deciding you don't believe that same way they do anymore.
  
  congregations are full of gossipping, lying, manipulating and abusive people
  (especially at the elder and CO level). yet the Watchtower overlooks this
  with "we are all imperfect" rhetoric.

  Open Relationships, and Society's Cultural Unwritten Boundaries

  i'm a anarchist basically with a ever widening opening mind.

  and i believe in them i don't beleive that either sex should dominate over the other .

  on the grounds that every one is master over thier own body, and so to demand loyalty in the use of anothers body seems wrong.

  lots of sociological factors at work.

  1. sex is no longer linked directly to procreation. in the developed world

  especially, these two factors continue to drift further and further apart.

  2. equality of women. ok, we are definitely still not there, but wow looks

  at the change in the status of women in the last 100 years. the vote,

  the pill, careers of their own leading to financial independence rather

  than having to trade sex and keep up the home for sustanance from

  the male bread winner.

  3. the lessening of sex as the bond that keeps people together. other

  psychological factors continue to become more important than sex to

  maintaining lasting relationships. if sex isn't the bond, then open

  relationships are more likely to be successful.

  I've enjoyed my 19 year open relationship, its going strong because

  we are tied together at the heart, not the genitals.

  Beating Fear

  pat robertsons doom and gloom forecast for 08 (his 07 forecast that the us would be hit by a major terrorist attack was incorrect).

  reminded me so much of the watchtower's constant doom messages: definitely rule by fear.

  if you do this you will be destroyed, so will your kids.. if you do this you will be disfellowshipped and lose all your friends and family.. if you don't go out in service you will be marked as bad association.. and of course every natural or man made disaster meant the end was coming soon soon soon.. it takes a lot of effort to overcome the fear paralysis instilled in us by the watchtower.. and it doesn't just go away and stay away, conquering fear is not a one time event, it is instead.

  a daily exercise similar to watching your diet, getting fit, reading to learn, etc.

  its a mental exercise. every time you conquer fear, you get stronger, but if you let up, your

  fear resisting muscle gets weaker.

  Don't let the doom sayers get to you. Breathe in the air, live the day, kiss your spouse or

  kids. LIVE.

  Suicide attempt and I am heartbroken

  my younger brother tried to kill himself today.

  i am sick inside....sicker then i ever thought possible.

  my mother told me the news in the cruelest of ways and i am now in a fog.. i blame the jw's and all the bullshit they put on children who are df.

  I would bet that there are thousands of witneses like them
  around the world.
  
  My question is:
  
  If there were annointed who were dropping out, wouldnt it
  make sense that these other older faithful witnesses would
  be the ones that would take their place rather than this
  new group of annointed that are my age, in their 40's and
  50s and even younger?
  
  Simply doesn't make sense.

  perhaps it was "love at first sight", but then you get to know him/her more intimately and realize your goals and amitions couldn't be further apart.

  not that he/she isn't a good person ... just not right for you.

  the physical attraction is real, but issues that are important to you pale into insignificance in his/her mind.
