Great movie, one of my faves. The color red signified "bad", it was the forbidden color that drove the beasts out of their territory into the village. The colors were like "invisible boundries".

Wow, such insight, if only I was as smart as you and researched before getting involved with the "cult" my life would have been so much better. I would love to see a JW try and witness to you. Great job, and future comments are always welcome!

Yes, I myself was abused physically, sexually and verbally by my JW husband. His mother and father also were mentally abusive to me.

Culinary Fads
by Stephanus inremember back in the 80s when olive oil was all the rage?
you had to cook or douse everything with it.
then the tv chefs started to notice its shortcomings - that extra virgin wasn't very good for frying (but great for dressings) or for use in mayonnaise.. remember when you could only cook with polyunsaturated or monounsaturated oils, otherwise you'd drop dead?

I have noticed alot of new cheeses coming out at the supermarket lately, blu cheese with jalapeno peppers, goat cheese mixed with everything, swiss with veggies chopped in it. Used to be white or yellow...lol.

Small Business Fads
by Stephanus injust before the turn of the millennium, it was mobile/cell phone kiosks popping up everywhere in shopping centres/malls.
in the nineties, i remember travel agencies appearing everywhere.
a few years ago, starbucks and its clones were emerging all over the place.. what other small business types do you remember getting popular, and what ones are you noticing now?.

What do YOU say to people in hopeless situations?
by AlmostAtheist insometimes you have a friend that falls on hard times.
their health fails, they lose their jobs, they spend their last dollar -- whatever.
they don't have anything good on the horizon.

Depends on the situation. Sometimes I try and steer them in the direction of public assistance programs such as food stamps, medical assistance or housing assistance. These preograms were designed to help people temporarily in need. If that is not an option then I just let them know they can call day or night, do laundry at my house, invite them over for a meal, watch their kids for a couple days for them so they have time to really think about their next step.

if he can't get to training then how is he gonna get to work when the hours start? i would tell him that if he can get to your house by (whatever time you need to leave) then you would be happy to give him a lift, but it is def. not your responsibility to drive the opposite way to pick him up, what if he is running late and makes you late? at least if he rode the bus to your house then you would know exactly what time he would show up.
